CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLIDER Casts Its Female Lead

Emily VanCamp will play the female lead in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Deadline reports that VanCamp and Marvel Studios are currently in negotiations to secure her in the role of what is believed to be Sharon Carter, who in the comic books is the niece of Peggy Carter, a character previously played in Captain America: The First Avenger by Hayley Atwell. It looks as if VanCamp beat out a LONG list of rumored candidates for the coveted role. True to form, Marvel Studios has selected a candidate previously not on the purported casting radar. More details as we have them. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is currently scheduled for release on April 4, 2014. Joe and Anthony Russo will direct a script from Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

Deadline also reaffirms earlier reports that Scarlett Johannson will return as the Black Widow.

IA, Emilia radiates sunshine but her acting reminds me of Emma Watson. I think it's a case of over emoting vs. underemoting when you compare her to EVC. But then I'm not familiar with the character so perhaps it's a better fit.

i didnt even know she was in the running for it, i dont think she was in the list of names before.

and while i love her in everwood and revenge, shes not a very good actress lol. shes actually quite wooden.

Yeah, her acting works for Revenge because Emily/Amanda is supposed to be a sort of emotionless psychopath, but I'm not so sure about this casting.

She had a lot of emotional range in Everwood (frankly, I wasn't sure when Revenge started whether she was suited to the role, because I associated her with very touchy-feely dramas).

it sorta works with revenge because thats how the character is, but sometimes in scenes it gets too awkward. idk if its how it was written or her, but i felt like maybe she should have shown a tad bit more emotion sometimes.

I gave up Revenge after season 1 because I couldn't stand her acting any more. Everytime I watched, I just kept thinking about how much better it would be with someone else in the role.
