Which is great. I'm talking about her singing the national anthem to prove that she can (which no one doubted that she can't sing - who else could sing the lip sync if not her) and then the "ANY QUESTIONS?" at the end is like something out of a sitcom or a shitty Katherine Heigl movie.

It's not-in-a-good-way weird.

Is she not supposed to ask if the members of the press have any questions at a press conference? If anything, she did it to break the ice, given how everyone laughed. But ok.

And yes, the singing was over the top. But so what? The faux controversy in itself was over the top, given how a) lip-synching and singing over the backing track are 2 different things and b) people have had backing tracks for inauguration performances for years.

the "any questions" was totally a "see i just put everyone in their place" - it's context, you can't just look at a transcript and take it at FACE VALUE

you might think it was this dynamo amazing thing for pop culture and i think it's really weird and surreal and shows that Beyonce is just a really...out-there individual

Yes, agreed.

I like Beyonce just fine I just feel she hasn't been given free reign to be herself as much as people think which shows in her music being largely neutered and underwhelming and her persona being largely manufactured
