how is this racist? really, i don't get it. if any witty hipster american would come to my eastern european home country they would write a similar article about how we and our customs are weird. every foreigner always sees a place from a different, kind of ignorant perspective, but that is a fact of life, that is how people are different. as long as you don't think of yourself as a superior, although it might happen even unwillingly, it's how a human mind historically works
