Dystopian YA Book Matched to be directed by G.I. Joe and Step Up Director

David Slade Out, 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation' Director Jon Chu In For Young Adult Adaptation 'Matched'

Studios continue to hunt the great white whale of the young adult franchise. With "Twilight" over, "The Hunger Games" is the only player in town, but 2013 brings two contenders to the fore: "Beautiful Creatures" which we're only watching because of Emmy Rossum and "The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones" whose title we don't understand. "Divergent" with Shailene Woodley will get in front of cameras later this year, and now Disney is eager to get into the ring.

this book is what the giver would have been if lois lowry had been less awesome.

The Chemical Garden trilogy should not have been a trilogy because Fever was completely unnecessary.
starrbaby 1st-Feb-2013 04:22 am (UTC)
yeah...i hate to admit it...but yeah.
heymeghann 4th-Feb-2013 05:21 pm (UTC)
I agree. Absolutely nothing of consequence happened in Fever. Shit was boring and depressing as fuck.
imnotasquirrel 1st-Feb-2013 12:05 am (UTC)
ugh it's so depressing that the infernal devices' numbers are that high. at least it's not #1.

THIS. I only recently found out about the plagiarism scandal, but this was only after people jumped down my throat on GR and basically then fed me the links themselves. I only listed parallels between HP and TMI.

Speaking of Beautiful Creatures, that book was boring as fuck. I ended up writing a long rant about it lol
heymeghann 4th-Feb-2013 05:15 pm (UTC)
Lena is basic, pure and simple. Whiny and angsty. I'm still not sure how that series got billed as 'Southern Gothic literature'.
shining_starsxx 4th-Feb-2013 11:41 pm (UTC)
There's nothing "Gothic" in those books.
m_pendulum 1st-Feb-2013 12:09 am (UTC)
...and yet A Great and Terrible Beauty has nothing. The Tortall books have nothing...standard.

I love the Delirium series because I adore Lauren Oliver's writing. Having said that, all of these books are basically the same exact story and after trying to read Divergent, I refuse to waste my life reading a less awesome version of a book I do love ever again.
ladyserenity84 2nd-Feb-2013 02:59 pm (UTC)
I feel the same way. Loved Delirium because of the writing, and I also recognize the repetitiveness of the stories here. Ugh.
hisjulliet 1st-Feb-2013 12:50 am (UTC)
this book was horrible. 10 dollars I'll never get back
redleigh86 1st-Feb-2013 12:51 am (UTC)
This is why you dl this shit lol If it's good, then I go out and buy it, but there's so many these days it's a waste of money to buy them all for the one gem in a pile of shit.
hisjulliet 1st-Feb-2013 12:58 am (UTC)
I don't know where to dl shit that's the problem lol

Just finished reading the Matched series. It dragged...a lot. I don't know how they'll make this into a movie. Book 2 would probably be super boring if they don't add anything more.
prophecypro 1st-Feb-2013 06:14 am (UTC)
Aint seen his work, but Slade can be serviceable for this genre
slaygalthessily 1st-Feb-2013 07:53 am (UTC)
i like jon chu, so i'll be there for it.

Im almost done with this series. The first book was pretty good and I was excited for #2 and 3. However, they were both super slow. Im happy when I'm done tbh.

I still need to read book 2 of this series. I wasn't that fond of "Matched" however.

I think I'd be a super happy camper if they made Little Brother by Cory Doctorow into a movie. All of the technologies described in the book are completely real and the dystopia element is disturbingly similar to the world we live in today.

Here's the GR page: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/954674.Little_Brother
