Katie McGrath & Nonso Anozie Join NBC’s ‘Dracula’ Series

Merlin star Katie McGrath (Merlin ) and Nonso Anozie (Game of Thrones) have been cast opposite Jonathan Rhys Meyers in the upcoming NBC/Sky Living HD 10-episode drama series Dracula. The series re-introduces Dracula (Meyers) as he arrives in London, posing as American entrepreneur Alan Grayson who maintains that he wants to bring modern science to Victorian society. In reality, he hopes to wreak revenge on the people who ruined his life centuries earlier but falls hopelessly in love with Mina Murray (Jessica De Gouw) who appears to be the reincarnation of his dead wife. McGrath will play Lucy Westenra, Aristocratic London’s sexy, social butterfly and Mina’s best friend who has a penchant for gossip, flirting and all things glamorous. Anozie will play R.M. Renfield, Alan Grayson’s fiercely loyal confidante. McGrath, repped by Luber Roklin, attorney Fred Toczek and UK’s The Rights House, just wrapped her stint as Morgana on the Syfy/BBC series Merlin. She also guest starred on The Tudors opposite Meyers. Anozie has guest starred on HBO’s Game of Thrones. Based on a script by co-executive producer Cole Haddon, Dracula is executive produced by Colin Callender, Tony Krantz, Gareth Neame and Dan Knauf for Universal Television.

Series is going to last maybe 1 and a half seasons.

Katie McGrath is so beautiful to me. I really just want to stare at her face for hours.
lokiyan 30th-Jan-2013 08:45 pm (UTC)
She's gooorgeous.

IA. She's stunning! :)

Ten episodes makes it sound like a mini-series which could be really cool. America needs to do more mini-series. Some shows just don't have the longevity for multiple seasons, but they're still good shows/ideas.

Very true...

Though the way US TV is set up doesn't really allow for that on prime time channels (because they depend so much on advertising etc), but it works for pay TV for the most part (which usually allows for more quality TV as opposed to quantity).
mistycreed 30th-Jan-2013 08:41 pm (UTC)
I know. :/

A few years ago, CBS did Harper's Island over the summer which was a mini-series and fantastic, but the ratings weren't that good and ratings are basically everything.

for a second I thought that Katie McGrath joined the GoT cast and I nearly shat myself.
jaesis 30th-Jan-2013 08:25 pm (UTC)
She's the fancast for like everyone. Lyanna Stark, older Arya, Ashara Dayne... if Season 4 does a Tourney at Harenhaal flashback-themed episode like I really wish they would do, I hope she's cast as someone.
mistycreed 30th-Jan-2013 08:29 pm (UTC)
I like Hayley Atwell and Gemma Arterton for Lyanna, but I could see Katie.
watermeloncholy 30th-Jan-2013 08:32 pm (UTC)
Even Martells, which NOPE. No.
chicaintcheap 30th-Jan-2013 10:12 pm (UTC)
I meant shat myself in a bad way, I can't stand her or her acting, lol.

My King is getting werk! <3

This Nigerian is so proud of the slayage. Well done Nonzie.

I sort of love him just for having the same name as my brother, lol. And other things.
golden_train 30th-Jan-2013 08:20 pm (UTC)
katie mcgraft is gorgeous.
josiefier 30th-Jan-2013 08:24 pm (UTC)
I know I'm old when I hear/read "Dracula series" I still think of the one from 1990 and get disappointed when it isn't.
theafterimages 30th-Jan-2013 08:25 pm (UTC)
... damn it, I did not ever plan to watch this. THE THINGS I DO FOR YOU, KATIE MCGRATH.
jaesis 30th-Jan-2013 08:26 pm (UTC)
McGrath would be more apropriate for the lead, De Gouw is too young to be paired with Henry VIII.
allysouu 30th-Jan-2013 08:30 pm (UTC)
I means she's pretty but she can't really act. Also I'm just a bitter Colin Morgan fan and would rather be getting news of him getting cast in new things.

VERY excited for Nonso Anozie however. Especially after they fucked up his character on GoT
onaan 30th-Jan-2013 08:34 pm (UTC)
I agree with you. She's beautiful, but her acting is so awful. I couldn't stand Morgana because of the acting alone.
watermeloncholy 30th-Jan-2013 08:35 pm (UTC)
Colin's gonna be in a series called Quirke, but I don't think it's a huge role or anything.
mistycreed 30th-Jan-2013 08:42 pm (UTC)
Merlin's shit writing didn't help either.

Also, she's good friends with JRM, so that might have meant something with her getting the role.

They have a QT friendship tbh!
bellwetherr 30th-Jan-2013 08:47 pm (UTC)
Colin has already been cast in a new series, though. In fact, Bradley is the only one of the main four not to have been scooped up.
cb_eaglemaniac 31st-Jan-2013 01:51 am (UTC)
Agreed re: Katie's acting. She was always the weakest of the primary cast on Merlin, but maybe she'll surprise us? idk. I love her to death, but she's very wooden most of the time, delivery and expression-wise.
green__desire 31st-Jan-2013 04:50 am (UTC)
I'll be seriously pissed if Colin fades into obscurity. It's fucking impressive how good of an actor he was with the shit writing he was given to go on.
watermeloncholy 30th-Jan-2013 08:34 pm (UTC)
Still jelly that my friends met Nonso.

Also, still pissed D&D killed his fucking character and did that mess of a Qarth plot.

I will watch for Katie McGrath.
