Fate of 'Justice League' Movie Depends On "Man of Steel"'s Success

"Man of Steel" could give fanboys a real reason to hate Zack Snyder.

According to Variety, Warner Bros. is waiting to see how Snyder's Superman reboot does with audiences "before moving further ahead" with "Justice League," the DC Comics answer to "Marvel's The Avengers" and the studio's hopeful mega-franchise. In the highly unlikely scenario that "Man of Steel" flops, it could spell trouble for "Justice League."

Warner Bros. has yet to hire a director for "Justice League," but the pieces are in place for the movie to exist. Will Beall ("Gangster Squad") is writing the script, and the has narrowed down the League members to five: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and The Flash.

Snyder has been a geek whipping boy of late because of his work on "Watchmen" and "Sucker Punch," neither of which seemed to satisfy internet commenters nor audiences: "Watchmen" earned just $185 million worldwide (its reported budget was $130 million), while "Sucker Punch" was an outright flop. The 2011 film grossed just $89 million around the globe.

Fortunately for everyone involved in "Man of Steel," there's great hope: The first trailers for the film have been universally praised, and Christopher Nolan (gag) is the executive producer of the Superman film.

"I actually feel guilty talking about ['Man of Steel'] because I'm sitting here having nothing to do to it," Nolan told THR. "I try to be as supportive as I can, and I'm just amazed by what [Snyder] is doing. It's not something I would know how to do."

Is that a penis in your tights or are you just happy to see me?

I want it to succeed solely for Cavill's career.

The way I figure it, if I can sit through Conan for Momoa then I can extend the same to Cavill and my least favorite Justice League character ever.

I keep wanting to make Superman unclench whenever I randomly read a comic for him. I just can't get on board with goody-goody. (Note, my favorite DC characters were Huntress - both versions, Cats, and Connor's Power Girl.) And d'aw those looks! They'd be so cute, especially if one holds a water bucket and the other a mop (felt, of course).

yeah poor superman. not many peoples fav but about the most well known :))I kinda lost interest in comic book things and when i started having kids i thought they would be interested but nope. i thought my son would be interested in seeing batman or superman or even the avengers but he claims comic book characters are LAME. he is all star wars all the time ( he is peeing his pants at the idea of the next star wars movie.

I'm going for the shirtless scene with him sporting that hot beard. :P

See, that's my plan, though. If he succeeds, more chances of movies where we can stare at the pretty who can act.

No lie, I think of all the people who have portrayed Superman, Henry is hands down the best looking of them all. And indisputably the most built for the role.

And the beard thing works too. I like beards sure, but I mean, for someone trying to hide, or is in a reclusive mode. A beard makes perfect sense. I know they move Jonathan and Martha Kent from the Midwest and it's set in a coastal town. I'm not a purist like that, so that works as well.
