James Franco Not Impressed With The Amazing Spider-Man



Last summer's The Amazing Spider-Man was commercially successful, but met with a mixed response from critics and, to some degree, fans, many of whom couldn't get past the fact that the reboot retread so much territory covered by Sam Raimi's earlier trilogy.

Well, one of the stars of those previous Spidey films, James Franco, shares those less than enthusiastic feelings. When asked by MTV about his thoughts on the reboot, Franco didn't pull any punches, saying "I mean, they could have strayed a little bit more from the original. It was like, ‘Why?’ I guess they made a lot of money. Congrats. Good for them. Sam and I moved on. We made Oz."

I agree. I have watched both versions and they are both good in their own ways. I didn't watch The Amazing Spider-Man and think hey this is exactly the same as Spider-Man...
Also, it had Gwen while Spider-Man didn't use Gwen until the third film.

mte this is the version that should have been the first trilogy, not Toby's. Peter was just so much more a kid, a goofy awkward boy who was really lovable because he so desperately wants justice etc. It was way more genuine to the Spider Man comics.

I had high hopes for Oz but from the promo stills and trailer, I'm not too optimistic.
