Beyonce Reveals Stunning New Promo Pic For Super Bowl

Touchdown! Beyoncé makes the rules, transforming into a super-hot referee in a black-and-white striped top, high-waisted shorts, thigh-high stiletto boots, and face paint, while holding a football in the latest promo photo for Super Bowl XLVII.

For the past week, Bey has been in New Orleans rehearsing for the halftime show at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Sunday. However, it’s still unclear whether she will be joined by her Destiny’s Child bandmates, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.

Michelle recently denied that she will be joining Bey onstage, but she will be conspicuously absent from her Jay-Z and Will Smith-produced play “Fela!” in Washington, D.C. on Super Bowl Sunday.

Well I guess that's maybe just your personal experience/perception of her because I watched footage of her performing at Glasto and saw nearly 200,000 people in the crowd singing the words back to almost every song of hers.

Gaga and Rihanna may get the most headlines for whatever silly antics they get up to but Beyonce sells out world tours and her albums always debut at number 1. That's what to me/most other people says superstar.

Her press is also generally very positive, more so than most people, the stuff that is negative (not talking about certain other things...) doesn't go far because it's usually reaching.
I keep bringing it back to this because yes, some may sell sometimes more singles, the one that everyone talks about that most people can agree they generally like is Beyonce.

She's established and respected enough for that to happen, she offers the complete package as a popstar. Not controversial but not boring either, she's always going to deliver a great performance, you know what to expect, that is much more respected than people realise.
It's like how 'everyone' likes Friends. Do you get what I'm trying to say?
Or how 'everyone' knows and agrees that Angelina Jolie is A-list, she may not sell out as much as Scarlett Johansson but I bet more people know her name!
Does that make sense?
Gaga could be more all-round liked too if she wasn't so determined to be fake weird.

This is an interesting discussion tho!

I see where you are getting at with the liked by all-angle. I suppose we see it very differently, you being a big fan and myself not really caring for her since the Destiny's Childs days. The truth is probably somewhere in between.

Cause I tend to be anal about facts, I will point out that according to Wiki at least,Dangerously in Love went #1 in 6 countries, B'Day in 1 country (USA), Sasha Fierce in 4 counties, "4" in 8 countries (although had the worst sales out of Beyonce solo albums)

In comparison, Fame went #1 in 7 counties, the Fame Monster in 11 countries, Born this way in 26 countries.

Rihanna's Loud in went #1 in 6 countries, Talk that talk in and Unapologetic both in 7 countries. However, Rihanna is always been known to be a singles artist anyway.

As for touring, well, same goes for Gaga, at least. Born this way tour made 161 million over 80 dates around the world, being the fifth biggest tour of 2012 (behind the likes of Bruce Springsteen etc) (Madonna is at #1 with 262 million)

To compare, Beyonce's Sasha Fierce tour made 120 million for 108 shows.

I don't mean to drown you in numbers, but the numbers worldwide aren't as favourable to Beyonce as you seem to think.

It is an interesting discussion though, shows how people can have really different view points on the same topic depending on their (fan) background!

SIS.

I wasn't talking about numbers, I was talking from the start about who is more LIKED. That's what this has all been about.
Everyone of the women we've discussed about here LOOKS UP to Beyonce and regularly refers to her as someone whose career they want, how many of these new kids on the block can say they have that kind of esteem?

You can nitpick stuff where she doesn't seem to have done 'as well' ut if you wanna talk numbers then fine let's talk!
(BTW, you can google all this stuff it's verifiable).
In Destiny's Child which is widely considered one of the best selling and greatest groups in the world, she sold over $50mill records world wide.
Now in 2013 Beyonce is worth $350mill and rising. That's more than Gaga, Rihanna, Taylor Swift and about a 150 mill more than even Britney Spears. She's one of the biggest selling artists of all time with 75million records sold worldwide. That's nothing to sneeze at, that's serious numbers.
She pulled in $35 mill+ last year and that was when she wasn't officially doing anything except being pregnant.
When she's working she regularly pulls in $80+ mill a year.
Yeah 4 underperformed. For her. It still sold $2 mill worldwide and will probs get a bit of a boost post SuperBowl.
Her tours have consistently sold better and better and will keep doing so. It's not like $120 mill worldwide is weak, Gaga only has 40 mill on her in that regard.
Oh and her tours still sell out so idec! She didn't even have to go bankrupt to fund them...
*sips tea*
Her last starring role went straight to number 1 and has as of today grossed $94mill worldwide.
Which of these new girls can sell a film like that?

As for influence...
Her awards speak for themselves, she's the 3rd most honoured Grammy artist ever.
She's on friendly terms with the POTUS and his wife who genuinely admire and respect her, the Single Ladies vid is a pop culture phenomenon (everywhere from Europe to Asia), there's a species of insect named after her in Australia (lovingly btw, not as an insult!), her birth announcement which she did without saying a word almost broke twitter and was trending all over the world (I'm not saying twitter is the best but it helps to establish just how relevant she is).

Beyonce is up there with the best of them and is right now perceived as the most popular.
That's not my stan opinion, that (as I've shown to you) is fact.

Look Gaga and Rihanna are hot right now and sell well, sure but who has certain longevity? Who is on the verge of/already on iconic status?

Beyonce.

It is really hard to evaluate how "liked" someone is. It's an abstract concept. I'm sure the majority has nothing against her, but when it comes to pop music, controversy as a tool of creating publicity and popularity has never been a bad thing. Again, from my pov Beyonce is by no means loved by everyone from babies to grannies. My pov is obviously tinted by the fact that I'm not a fan and she does worse in my country than in other comparable countries (Western/Northern Europe). Your pov is tinted by the fact that you are a fan and live in a country where she is trememdously popular. Like I said, the reality WORLDWIDE is probably somewhere in between.

I only listed numbers because you commented that unlike Gaga and Rihanna, her albums always go #1 and she her tours always are clearly more succesful. This simply isn't true. Gaga and Rihanna have the (overall) edge on her in that. (Looked up Rihanna's last tour info, 90 million for 98 shows: it comes to a 0,91 million average to Beyonce's 1,1 million average. Bey leads, but not by much. Gaga, on the other hand, has the overall lead amongst them with over 2 million average)

I'm not contesting your numbers, I will however say that I've always found the "how much someone is worth" numbers kind of abstract, because they include projections on future earnings as well. Obviously that applies to tour profits as well, as they are someone's estimates, not real numbers.

As for movies, I wouldn't call Dreamgirls a runaway success for Bey. Firstly, it was meant to be a project that would catapult her into a movie star/award winner as well. That simply didn't happen, and she was clearly eclipsed by Jennifer Hudson.

If you meant Obsessed, that is even a worse example, because in many countries it didn't even arrive to theaters.(Made 73 million worldwide, only 5,5 million of those came from outside the States!).

In comparison, Rihanna's Battleship made over 300 million, 237 of that from outside the States. (Dreamgirls numbers: 150 mill worldwide, 100 million on foreign markets). (All numbers from boxofficemojo).

You are certainly true when it comes to longevity, Rihanna and Gaga have a lot to proove yet. But at the moment, they are the bigger pop names, or at least Bey is not by any means the clearly more succesful star. Worldwide.
