ALEX PETTYFER & KATE WINSLET CONFIRMED FOR DIVERGENT FILM ADAPTATION



Alex Pettyfer is confirmed to play Four, Tris' Dauntless leader and soon to be love interest.

While the acting skills of said Pettyfer have been brought into question by a few (in this office), there's no denying that visually, he makes a great Four. (lol)

Kate Winslet is also down to star, but no character name has been given to her yet. We're guessing she'll play Tris' mum; who starts off a bit of a goody goody and turns out to be BADASS.

Though I'm still a little disappointed he wasn't Jace in The Mortal Instruments, tbh. He and Cassandra Clare deserve each other. Divergent is basically a shitty Sorting Hat generator gone wrong, but it will probably be a successful franchise which will make Pettyfer even more insufferable. Oh well.

Sorta OT but I pictured him as being perfect for the role of Jace in City of Bones because he's got like the exact look but also gives off that air of smug douchiness that pretty much is that character's personality.

Also I just read the wiki summary of this book and I still can't tell what it's about or if it's about much of anything really. All I gathered was that the main character is some special snowflake with unique and unheard of gifts and her love interest is a troubled loner with tattoos and a bad past.

i read it and it was fast-paced enough to keep you entertained/hooked but it's nothing special. i started the sequel but it was so boring i couldn't even get halfway through it.

yeah, everyone is sorted into 4 or 5(can't remember) groups of people, and every group thinks different things are important i.e. knowledge, bravery, selflessness, serenity etc. and basically if you are a special snowflake you don't fit into any of the groups you are called ~divergent~

the group that values bravery is called dauntless and they all dress like goth punk rockers and only wear black and have piercings and tattoos. everyone else isn't allowed. the selfless group only wears 'simple' gray clothes so they blend into the air, etc. (edit: the clothing/stereotyping is full of lols)

it read fast and was relatively interesting. i haven't read the second book though so who knows if it went to shit there

I can't believe it's taken them so long to jump on that one. What child has not had to read that novel in school?

I'm really curious as to how they're going to treat it given that it's not exactly the most cheery piece of YA lit out there.
