First Super Nintendo game in 15 years is finally being released

If you haven’t sold/given away/broke your old Super Nintendo yet, you might have reason to dust off the old console. For the first time in 15 years, a new game is coming out for the SNES. The name of the game is Nightmare Busters, a side scrolling adventure game from Japanese developer Nichibutzu.

The game was always meant to be released, but for some inexplicable reason, the game never saw the light of day. However, a publisher by the name of Super Fight Time has decided to release the stagnant game at the modern video game price of $60.

It’s simply a novelty item, or if you’re a collector, an enticing opportunity, especially since the company announced they would only be releasing six hundred copies of the game in an SNES cartridge.

Personally, if I wanted to throw sixty dollars at a video game, I’d get something a little bit more current generation. Heck, I can get current generation games at at even lower prices during Steam sales. I’ve moved on from the good ol’ days, and I don’t regret a second of it.

I suppose there is a certain nostalgia behind buying the last Super Nintendo game to ever be released. It might just because it’s the last hurrah for the days where you pulled out a fresh new cartridge out of a game box instead of a CD. or maybe you’re aching to blow air into the bottom of the game to make it work. Maybe you missed reading the included instruction booklet…

But let’s face it, as much as we have fond memories of a time long gone, there are plenty of games for the SNES on the open market that have a cheaper market price than $60 that are just as good, not to mention that pretty much every game on the SNES has been emulated and free to play on the emulator of your choice. Things change, and why anyone would spend their money on a game for a system long past its prime is beyond me.

I had a load of fun with the Mario RPG and FF6 is my fav, but I would maybe tie it with Earthbound, because yes.

I gave away my copy of Earthbound for free to a friend who lost his.

The next week, I saw it for sale for $200. I cried.

you didn't lie

I had earthbound on an emulator on my laptop a few years ago and I was probably 1/2 or 3/4th of the way through the game and then my laptop got stolen, I was so bummed

I've never gotten around to replaying/getting back to where I was originally

My cartridge got stolen, and I read the guidebook until it fell apart. I'm so shitty with my collectables.
