You could accurately say Elementary's version of New York City is a great cesspool into which all the killers of the country are irresistibly drained. Someone's always being murdered. But Martin Ennis (Terry Kinney), the villain in the special episode that will air on CBS after the Super Bowl this Sunday is particularly nasty. For one, he escapes from prison during a medical procedure to give his ailing sister a kidney, just to go on a killing spree.
"He's probably one of the worst guys we've had on," says star Jonny Lee Miller, whose Sherlock Holmes will hunt Ennis throughout the City. "So the episode is kind of like our show with an injection — like our show on steroids."
Much to his chagrin, Sherlock and cohort Joan Watson (Lucy Liu) won't be chasing Ennis alone. They'll have unwanted help from an FBI profiler (Kari Matchett), who penned a book about the baddie — and has also written about Holmes. "She predicted some of his character flaws and his struggle with addiction," says Miller, "that really, really bugs him." Basically, he loathes her.
So expect a lot of bickering — and more blood — but don't get your hopes up about meeting the show's take on Sherlock's famous adversary Moriarty, who we now know was behind the murder of Holmes' one-and-only Irene Adler. He's showing up for an arc later in the season. As for who's playing him, we can only say this: When you've eliminated the impossible, whoever remains, however improbable, must be it.
