an excuse for a sex post: 10 of the Sexiest Foreign Films You Haven’t Seen

We reported that acclaimed Japanese director Nagisa Ôshima died. The iconoclastic filmmaker pursued a path that was often considered taboo, explicit, and deviant — especially when compared to the traditionalists working alongside him throughout his career. Ôshima is probably best remembered for his 1976 historical drama, In the Realm of the Senses, which featured scenes of unsimulated sex between actors. Controversy and censorship followed, but it wasn’t his only dalliance with eroticism, and Ôshima continued to reveal the forbidden in his films, while shedding light on political and cultural grievances. Sexy is entirely subjective, and we wanted to remember other oft-forgotten foreign films that explored the provocative and erotic.

Most sex scenes are irrelevant to a film's story, which always annoys me a little...I do recall being quite scandalized by Unfaithful, I guess, though that's not a foreign film.

ITA. I'm no prude, but I find that a good 90% of the time, they don't move the story along, they're just there to ~sex up~ the movie

I am kind of a prude, lol. But yeah, I can think of maybe a handful of films or shows I've seen where a sex scene actually told you something about the characters.

I remember finding the shower scene, although it's short and doesn't really show anything, sexy and they have good chemistry (even if their hair is kinda dated lol).
It's not foreign but it does have kissing in it.

I watched Anatomy of Hell a few months ago, and the scene where she took her tampon out, put it in a glass of water, and then drank the bloody water was one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen. I can't fuck with Catherine Breillat anymore after that.

Just typing this has me gagging.
