oh my god, i knew Movie 43 looked terrible but....wow
shelostcontro1 26th-Jan-2013 08:38 pm (UTC)
ikr? anyone see it? is it so bad it is good?
punishermax 26th-Jan-2013 08:40 pm (UTC)
So bad it's good comedies don't exist. A bad comedy means it's not funny. A 6% comedy means it's soul crushingly unfunny.
sarahvma 26th-Jan-2013 09:15 pm (UTC)
Honestly, every actor associated with this movie is thrilled that nobody saw it.

With that said, I wish somebody like Kate Winslet or Halle Berry went out -- now that it's clear this is a turkey and just a terrible decision on everyone's part -- and started ironically promoting it.
thewhowhatwhats 26th-Jan-2013 09:51 pm (UTC)
It only cost $6 million to make, so $1.8 million isn't that bad.
fred2265 26th-Jan-2013 10:30 pm (UTC)
lol..
waffle_party 27th-Jan-2013 12:41 am (UTC)
it's so bad.... I kept waiting for a funny part, I DESPERATELY wanted it to be funny, but it just never happened. So fucking awkward....
kuuuchan 27th-Jan-2013 03:34 am (UTC)
halle berry movies r a flop.
americnxidiot 26th-Jan-2013 08:36 pm (UTC)
the reviews for movie 43 are hilariously mean. it's actually making me want to see it lol

like from richard roeper: ""Movie 43" is the "Citizen Kane" of awful."

Edited at 2013-01-26 08:37 pm (UTC)
moo_shoe 26th-Jan-2013 09:18 pm (UTC)
Haha, I signed up for a Sun Times account just so I could read his full review. Worth it.
drcorton 26th-Jan-2013 09:20 pm (UTC)
citizen kane was awful tho idgi
saintssin 26th-Jan-2013 09:24 pm (UTC)

maidenhell 26th-Jan-2013 09:44 pm (UTC)
No.
pipedownna 26th-Jan-2013 10:29 pm (UTC)
I read some equally horrible reviews that were so bad it made me curious to watch it. lol
cringinglove 26th-Jan-2013 11:19 pm (UTC)
i lol'd at one reviewer's verdict being "just no."
stephantasm 26th-Jan-2013 08:37 pm (UTC)
6%? Gotdamn...
shelostcontro1 26th-Jan-2013 08:37 pm (UTC)
i am seeing Father John Misty tonight and I am so excited!
cherrynorth 26th-Jan-2013 08:43 pm (UTC)
is he still touring with The Walkmen or no? because if yes, then I might kill you out of jealousy.
shelostcontro1 26th-Jan-2013 08:53 pm (UTC)
he is :/ are the walkmen good live?
grotesque_xxx 26th-Jan-2013 08:38 pm (UTC)
Shakespeare in Love
Les Miserables
Seven Psychopaths

oh and second time Django

Edited at 2013-01-26 08:38 pm (UTC)
kamikashi 26th-Jan-2013 08:50 pm (UTC)
I loved seven psychopaths. I wonder if colin farrell and martin mcdonagh will be one of those actor/director duos that continually work together.
grotesque_xxx 26th-Jan-2013 08:52 pm (UTC)
That movie was amazing ;D
For me Sam Rocwell was brilliant [ same as Walken]

cute icon <3
kindafunnysad 26th-Jan-2013 09:45 pm (UTC)
i hope so and mcdonagh's movies are a breath of fresh air, he needs to get more recognition
theblackwidow 26th-Jan-2013 08:54 pm (UTC)
Seven Psychopaths was flawless. Definitely in my top 5 for 2012.
floristry 26th-Jan-2013 09:23 pm (UTC)
Seven Psychopaths was fantastic. SAM ROCKWELL <3
tipping4_2 26th-Jan-2013 09:32 pm (UTC)
omg my love for Sam Rockwell tho

PAW. PAWWWWW.
bananasnrum 26th-Jan-2013 08:38 pm (UTC)
I read that in Hansel and Gretel.... Hansel is diabetic.
What a twist.
soavantgarde 26th-Jan-2013 08:47 pm (UTC)
o really? that's cool I guess...? how does it play into the plot at all? does she get sick when they enter the witch's candy house or something?

lol that movie looks so awful
pervert_bitch 26th-Jan-2013 09:19 pm (UTC)
He became diabetic after he went into the candy house. You know, for being fed only sweets when the witch was fattening him up.
alessar 28th-Jan-2013 03:27 pm (UTC)
It was ridiculous fun. I mean, check any sense of reality at the door, they're using fully-automatic crossbow guns, folding rifles, Hansel has an alarm-clock wristwatch and carries a ginormous steampunk style syringe for his insulin injection. Famke Janssen was dressed up like Sharon Needles and chewing scenery like an ex-vegetarian eating meat for the first time in a decade. (She as the main evil witch). I think there was an F-bomb every ten minutes and someone or something getting squished every 8. A nice twist was since they were siblings, there was NO romantic bullshit between the leads, each of them had a local person crushing on them though.
sandstorm 26th-Jan-2013 08:58 pm (UTC)
...alrighty.
ride_the_jitney 26th-Jan-2013 10:17 pm (UTC)
I read that has diabolical
joaniemaloney 26th-Jan-2013 11:36 pm (UTC)
omg no way.
ljubavirakija 26th-Jan-2013 08:38 pm (UTC)
Is Movie 43 as bad as the critics make it out to be?
punishermax 26th-Jan-2013 08:39 pm (UTC)
When a film gets a 6% it's very very very very rarely even close to being watchable.
nene718 26th-Jan-2013 08:38 pm (UTC)
surprised movie 43 didn't make much. most people have awful taste. though i guess hansel & gretel stole all of the taste-lacking customers.
ljubavirakija 26th-Jan-2013 08:39 pm (UTC)
Going to see Life of Pi tomorrow. I'm excited!
grotesque_xxx 26th-Jan-2013 08:40 pm (UTC)
awesome bb , i'll watch this movie in Monday ;D
ljubavirakija 26th-Jan-2013 08:43 pm (UTC)
:D

Are you going to see it in 3D?
mistress_f 26th-Jan-2013 08:43 pm (UTC)
it's so amazing.
theblackwidow 26th-Jan-2013 08:44 pm (UTC)
It is flawless. See in 3D if you can
icangoforthat 26th-Jan-2013 08:53 pm (UTC)
it is incredibly beautiful.
tusiaczek87 26th-Jan-2013 08:57 pm (UTC)
stunning and great movie
sandstorm 26th-Jan-2013 08:59 pm (UTC)
Excellent choice.
floristry 26th-Jan-2013 09:24 pm (UTC)
It's so good. I've seen it twice and really want to go again.
ohsnapohsnap 26th-Jan-2013 09:40 pm (UTC)
3.14 stars
heart_iswild 27th-Jan-2013 03:21 am (UTC)
just got back from seeing it. it was absolutely flawless in every way. i cried, i laughed, i was majorly inspired......such a gorgeous, perfectly done movie. and the lead actor who carries most of the film was incredible! idg why he wasn't nominated for anything
kuuuchan 27th-Jan-2013 03:43 am (UTC)
Cloud Atlas is better.
babbss 26th-Jan-2013 08:39 pm (UTC)
Is silver lining play book really that good?
hera_bearrra 26th-Jan-2013 08:41 pm (UTC)
I don't understand all the Oscar buzz but it's a good/entertaining movie
rabbitncavylove 26th-Jan-2013 09:18 pm (UTC)
Weinstein Brothers money and influence -
ljubavirakija 26th-Jan-2013 08:42 pm (UTC)
IDTS.

Aside from B Coop and DeNiro, I don't get all the praise for it
mistress_f 26th-Jan-2013 08:43 pm (UTC)
its a very good movie, and it's literally incredible how bradley cooper scrolled the douchebag off his face / presence, but i don't really agree with all the oscar / awards buzz.

(and i LOVED the movie, i really did)
mcdreamyy 26th-Jan-2013 08:43 pm (UTC)
it's good but it's not amazing. i would go in with low expectations tbh.
grotesque_xxx 26th-Jan-2013 08:43 pm (UTC)
Jennifer Lawrence is amazing in SLP
winniechili 26th-Jan-2013 08:44 pm (UTC)
I hated it (like loathed) but my friends all liked it. *shrug*
senkig 26th-Jan-2013 08:44 pm (UTC)
I loved it personally, I'm cheering for it at the SAGs tomorrow.
breaktheice89 26th-Jan-2013 08:45 pm (UTC)
No, I thought it was mediocre at best.
ritaamber 26th-Jan-2013 08:47 pm (UTC)
i have seen it 3 times now with various friends and its good but its not great. Its a romantic comedy that tries to be serious by throwing in mental health issues. give it a watch but dont spend 12 dollars at a theater to do so.
die2nitelive4ev 26th-Jan-2013 08:47 pm (UTC)
it is good as a sorta deep rom com/ look at how people deal with life but it's not Oscar worthy at all.
chibik3r0 26th-Jan-2013 08:47 pm (UTC)
It wasn't bad. It's not my typical movie but I enjoyed it.
chantemarissa 26th-Jan-2013 08:48 pm (UTC)
I didn't care for it.
fuk_q 26th-Jan-2013 08:50 pm (UTC)
I liked it but it wasn't anything worth gagging over.
theblackwidow 26th-Jan-2013 08:51 pm (UTC)
I really liked it because I suffer from depression and I sympathized with the two main characters (even though I wouldn't act the way they do) but I can see how it wouldn't be that appealing to other people.
tankmachine 26th-Jan-2013 08:51 pm (UTC)
yes
windsong_moon 26th-Jan-2013 08:54 pm (UTC)
I liked it but I wouldn't say it's "really that good."
bananasnrum 26th-Jan-2013 08:55 pm (UTC)
no. mediocre miscast film.
fauxkaren 26th-Jan-2013 09:04 pm (UTC)
No. It's not an affront to cinema or anything like that. But it's just a better than average romcom.
silentxstrom 26th-Jan-2013 09:08 pm (UTC)
I really liked it. Jennifer is good & Bradley Coopper really surprised me w/ his acting, but I don't quite think it's Oscar worthy.
supernature_971 26th-Jan-2013 09:09 pm (UTC)
I liked it a lot *shrug*
tusiaczek87 26th-Jan-2013 09:11 pm (UTC)
THAT good? probably not, but a good movie and i liked it

we need more smart comedies
hjohnson 26th-Jan-2013 09:17 pm (UTC)
People have been asking this for weeks.

Some love it, some hate it. Good has different variables. Both Zero Dark Thirty and SLP are good movies, ZDT has more depth to it, but I would watch SLP again but not ZDT. So take that as you will.

But then again, who cares about one opinion on the internet. See it and gather your own opinions.
tipping4_2 26th-Jan-2013 09:35 pm (UTC)
I found it vry enjoyable but worthy of all this praise? no

Bradley Cooper was great tho
sugarcrawler 26th-Jan-2013 09:38 pm (UTC)
i really liked the first half of the movie than i feel like it got boring/useless for the rest. maybe its cos i find football and the family drama boring, and in the end i realized oh its a romantic comedy..so ofc that happens. its good with some funny parts, but imo nothing special.
courtney_77 26th-Jan-2013 10:47 pm (UTC)
I loved it.
sophistiquated 26th-Jan-2013 11:34 pm (UTC)
I loved it, but I'm not sure if it deserves an Oscar for best film. It kind of reminds me of Little Miss Sunshine (which I also loved).

Edited at 2013-01-26 11:34 pm (UTC)
firetears_x 27th-Jan-2013 05:45 am (UTC)
I wasn't extremely impressed. I made the mistake of thinking it was a comedy. I went in thinking it was going to be hilarious(!!!) but there were only a handful of genuinely funny moments (most of which were in the trailer). The humor is more cute than gut-busting.
hera_bearrra 26th-Jan-2013 08:39 pm (UTC)
Wow 6%

Ouch
ms_mmelissa 26th-Jan-2013 08:39 pm (UTC)
I started watching The Wire.

I don't think it's as amazing as everyone says it is, but OMG I now understand everyone's obsession with Idris Elba.
hera_bearrra 26th-Jan-2013 08:40 pm (UTC)
ms_mmelissa 26th-Jan-2013 08:50 pm (UTC)
So handsome.

love_keiko 26th-Jan-2013 08:52 pm (UTC)
i will climb this man like a tree.
mistress_f 26th-Jan-2013 08:42 pm (UTC)
gurl. it's amazing as everyone says. season 1 is like 'ok i dont get what everyone was braggin about'. season 2 gets you hooked although it's one of the weakest. s3 and s4 are the best things ever created for tv and then s5 is a big awesome mess.

and yes, stringer bell is the shit
stellarlyssa 26th-Jan-2013 08:42 pm (UTC)
You should watch Luther then, you get to hear his normal accent.

Anyway, The Wire is kind of a slow build? I dunno, I was a bit dubious at first but now I'm one of the people singing its praises. You might like it more as you get more into it. (or not, that's cool too!)
kamikashi 26th-Jan-2013 08:43 pm (UTC)
Just started as in a couple episodes or you've finished a season or something? When I watched a couple episodes I wasn't too into it but once I got deeper into season 1 I was blown away.
fancypiink 26th-Jan-2013 08:44 pm (UTC)
yeah, i couldn't get into it either. i like oz better.
venetianglass 26th-Jan-2013 08:47 pm (UTC)
watch 'Luther' - that's when I became obsessed with Idris Elba.
nene718 26th-Jan-2013 08:53 pm (UTC)
s1 is slow to get into but you'll see soon enough why everyone raves about it.
yim_yames 26th-Jan-2013 09:03 pm (UTC)
wait til season 3 and 4.
invisible_cunt 26th-Jan-2013 09:27 pm (UTC)
so did i! the whole series is on demand and i was sick so i spend the day watching it
only got like 4 episodes in though lol
beesknees7 26th-Jan-2013 09:33 pm (UTC)
Give it time. Also, start preparing for S4 to crush your soul.
bad_situation 26th-Jan-2013 09:48 pm (UTC)
Season 2 is arguably the worst out of the bunch but season 4 is amazing. Idris Elba is perfection though ia there.

Edited at 2013-01-26 09:52 pm (UTC)
zigzagzap 26th-Jan-2013 08:40 pm (UTC)
I stayed in and played cards with my boyfriend. It was relaxing.
alexander2808 26th-Jan-2013 08:46 pm (UTC)
sounds boring
zigzagzap 26th-Jan-2013 09:32 pm (UTC)
I welcome a little boring after a long day of craziness.
mistress_f 26th-Jan-2013 08:41 pm (UTC)
wow silver linings playbook is still so high? how long has it been out in the us?

also LOL has anybody seen movie 43? i wanna know how bad it is
grotesque_xxx 26th-Jan-2013 08:41 pm (UTC)
who saw ZDT ? how good/bad is that movie ?
katiese93 26th-Jan-2013 08:43 pm (UTC)
I loved it. Jessica was amazing but a lot of the cast was. The last 35 minutes were amazing.
mcdreamyy 26th-Jan-2013 08:49 pm (UTC)
+1 on the last half hour or so. best part of the movie hands down.
mcdreamyy 26th-Jan-2013 08:44 pm (UTC)
it was an amazing movie. and i'm really not into war type movies at all but there was something about it that was just so captivating for me.
ms_mmelissa 26th-Jan-2013 08:44 pm (UTC)
Saw it, loved it.

I thought it was amazing, but some people here were complaining it was too slow. For me it was perfectly paced but I saw it on the big screen so that might have made a difference.
ljubavirakija 26th-Jan-2013 08:44 pm (UTC)
Meh.

All of the cast was really good. However, I felt the movie dragged on. The best parts of the film were the beginning and the end
winniechili 26th-Jan-2013 08:45 pm (UTC)
It's competent but very misleading.
venetianglass 26th-Jan-2013 08:49 pm (UTC)
saw it a few weeks ago, and I liked it. even though i *knew* what was going to happen during the last half hours, i was still on the edge of my seat.

i'm going to take my parents to see it next week when they visit (assuming it's still at the cheap theater near me).
theblackwidow 26th-Jan-2013 08:52 pm (UTC)
It was pretty good. Hurt Locker is better imho
twowaymirrrors 26th-Jan-2013 09:05 pm (UTC)
It's pretty great. The last half hour was really well done. Even though you know what happens you're still on the edge of your seat the whole time.
silentxstrom 26th-Jan-2013 09:17 pm (UTC)
I saw it and thought it would have worked much better as a mini series. It dragged on for about an hour too much imo. The acting was okay, but the direction is the best part of the movie.
kindafunnysad 26th-Jan-2013 09:49 pm (UTC)
it's basically useless.
vivisexion 26th-Jan-2013 10:25 pm (UTC)
i saw it yesterday and i really liked it. it was entertaining the whole time and pretty fast-paced.
