Kate Winslet Eyes Divergent
Kate Winslet is said to be in talks for an unspecified role in Neil Burger's Divergent, Variety reports.
Shailene Woodley is already set to lead the adventure, which centers around the monumental choice of deciding who you are and discovering who you can be. Set in a future where America is divided into five ideological (OP note: biblical themes) factions to stabilize society and uphold peace, every citizen must choose a permanent faction at age 16 - either their own or another (op note: passive aggressive sorting hat). Struggling to survive her initiation into the most aggressive and physically demanding of the factions, Beatrice Prior must uncover her true hidden strengths and risk her family, her new found love, and her very own life to defuse a mysterious conspiracy (op note: riiiight) which could change the balance of power forever.
Winslet, who last appeared in Contagion, will next appear in the ensemble sketch anthology Movie 43.
Divergent is planned to hit theaters on March 21, 2014 with Doug Wick and Lucy Fisher producing via their Red Wagon Entertainment banner along with Pouya Shahbazian.
There are better YA adaptations out there if you insist on doing one.
