90s kids rejoice: Web browser that no one uses makes a really cool commercial

Internet Explorer ad tugs at heartstrings of Gen-Y users



Whether you love or hate Internet Explorer, you've got to admit that some of its ads are pretty good.

Microsoft's latest IE ad, dubbed “Child of the 90s,” tries to appeal to people who remember the web browser at its worst.

The video shows snapshots of passing 1990s fads, such as Slap Wraps and Pogs. Meanwhile, a narrator describes how things were different back then. (My favorite line: “Lunch was a puzzle, not a picture,” spoken while stacks of Lunchables arrange themselves for an Instagram-style photo.) Take a look.

firefox crashes so many times on me (but I still use it) and I'll use chrome sometimes but I can't get used to it. Sometimes I can't get shit to work on FF but it will work in IE so I can't hate.

I don't get why Microsoft doesn't completely redesign IE if people have been saying for 10 years that it sucks and multiple browsers get released that are better. Why do they keep pushing the same shitty browser?

The first computer we ever got came preloaded with Mist. Holy fuck we were so confused by that game. For a while I thought all computer games were that bad.

Oh lawd my dad was obsessed with Myst. I remember having a shitton of computer games and my family would buy them from Costco. I remember having Dogz and Catz too.

i remember the days of aol... and we used that for a few years... and then i realized how dumb it was and jumped straight to firefox, and now chrome. i never used IE.
