This is what I think should have happened. Gossip Girl should have been played by Kristen Bell, and she would have been a completely new character. In the final episode, they'd have shown everyone to be just slightly different, and this new girl Kristen plays would have been among them and everyone would be acting like they knew her all along. And at the end she'd sit down and write a gossip girl post, completely removing herself from the action and totally skewing things so it sounded like the usual characters people were used to. And thus, making it so the entire series was her edited and skewed version.
