GoT's Aidan Gillen does an interview with the Herald

LOVE/HATE star Aidan Gillen says he tried to pen his autobiography but burnt it after just 100 pages.
Aidan, who played John Boy in the gangland drama, said he had always wanted to write a book.
But since his first draft went up in flames, Aidan has had no desire to put pen to paper.
"I tried to write a book once but after about 100 pages I burnt it. It was autobiographical but yeah, I decided to burn it and I felt really good afterwards," the 44-year-old said,
"And after that I didn't feel the need to write a book. I recommend it to people. It's very therapeutic."
The Dublin native is enjoying a relaxing six- month break before filming starts on the fourth series of Game Of Thrones.
"I'm chilling out till June," he said. "And then I'm going back to do Game Of Thrones."
Aidan plays the part of Lord Petyr 'Littlefinger' Baelish in the hit HBO series and Gillen says he's looking forward to filming. "It should be a good one -- I have a ship in this series which is cool."
But before he sets foot on deck, Aidan will be returning as host on RTE's musical series, Other Voices.
The programme is based around Dingle's famous festival Other Voices, which has attracted artists such as Amy Winehouse and Ellie Goulding.
"It's a nice job and means I can get into the gigs without blagging my way in," Aidan joked. "I really enjoy doing it but I'm not setting out to be a TV presenter. I was living in Dingle at the time and it was coincidental. I first came on as a co-host but then it sort of developed from that."
This time the show will travel to Derry and London.
"It's branching out this year," Aidan explained. "We move away from Dingle so that will be interesting."
Aidan was speaking at the launch of Peter Murphy's latest novel Shall We Gather At The River.

destructo_ray 24th-Jan-2013 05:38 am (UTC)
I really think he's just one of those guys where facial hair suits him better.

alaynestone 24th-Jan-2013 05:02 am (UTC)
I saw QAF in some random upstate NY antique store the other day wedged between Tolstoy books.

So fucking random lol.
miakun 24th-Jan-2013 04:52 am (UTC)
Sigh, prayer circle that Sansa's plot doesn't become all him.
jaimelannister 24th-Jan-2013 05:02 am (UTC)

like, I have this feeling D&D really like him and are trying to plumb the mystery that is Littlefinger (or whatever) but they ruined him from 1.07 onwards...

also, it's hilarious if they love Littlefinger when they so clearly don't love who Littlefinger loved
miakun 24th-Jan-2013 05:03 am (UTC)
Ahhh that is hilarious and painful.

I'm reading book 2 for the first time and they say it's Cat who convinced Ned to go to King's Landing, didn't they do it the other way around on the show? And people say s1 was a word to word adaption.

ugh they're already throwing in places where he doesn't need to be. the showrunners have such hard ons for LF and Varys. They're supposed to be sneaky~~
destructo_ray 24th-Jan-2013 05:43 am (UTC)
You'd think her being a POV character would count for something. This show needs better writers like yesterday. Season 2 was such a mess.
masalachaitea 24th-Jan-2013 10:04 am (UTC)
They've already pumped up his creepy factor and made him a lot less cunning than he should be. I feel like her storyline is going to be overrun by him. :(
war_machine_rox 24th-Jan-2013 04:57 am (UTC)
I bought Shanghai Knights because of him and his face.

Tis a silly movie but he sword fights Jackie Chan so totally worth the five buck double feature.

destructo_ray 24th-Jan-2013 05:57 am (UTC)
Did someone take the time to graph out the screen time for each character (or at least the more significant ones) in the entirety of season 2?

I remember someone had a one for about halfway through the series, but I hadn't seen the stats for all of season 2.
jaimelannister 24th-Jan-2013 06:02 am (UTC)
i know arya apparently got 2x the screentime sansa did
lokiyan 24th-Jan-2013 06:07 am (UTC)
Not by the end of the season according to this: http://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/topic/67828-book-spoilers-project-screen-time-of-characters/

I think Blackwater helped a lot, which is hilarious because that's the GRRM penned one. Don't get me wrong though, I'm still bitter as fuck lol.

Earlier tonight I was buzzedely (Not quite drunkenly) trying to explain my crushes on Littlefinger & Ser Jorah to my sexy bartender.
