lol omg Amanda

And totally sure Martin's trolling, he's most likely aware that his expression a couple years back went viral on tumblr
sideshowkat 24th-Jan-2013 02:58 am (UTC)
LOL Martin. He gives no fucks.
grapefruitzzz 24th-Jan-2013 03:39 am (UTC)
+++caption love.

And the Cucumbersalad shunning is pure joy.

Well done Tyrone! Now can we be done with this Kirsty domestic violence storyline because it's too upsetting and it's stressing me out.
cukoo4cocopuffs 24th-Jan-2013 04:51 pm (UTC)
I know!!! I can't stand Kristy. I really get quite upset over it.
velvetunicorn 24th-Jan-2013 05:52 pm (UTC)
Yeah they've done a good job with it. Honestly, anytime something goes bad for tyrone I start to feel physically ill. I just know Kirsty is going to find out and she's going to hurt him.

This makes me even more curious about Merlin but the stuff I hear about the Gwen haters. I can't take any more star trek type drama.

I don't get all the bashing in the comments and people laughing at disappointed fans. Let's see later this year, when Elementary and its actors are passed over or don't win anything. Let's see the meltdown then. I bet it will be just as amusing. Not.
fauxkaren 24th-Jan-2013 04:00 pm (UTC)
Well Elementary already didn't win Best New Drama at the People's Choice Awards and the Elementary fandon handled it pretty well. Unlike, say... the Sherlock fandom: http://ughsherlockfandom.tumblr.com/post/41319705579/darth-voldemort-herrsassafras

And tbh, as much as I love Elementary, it's not the kind of show that awards shows like and I think most people know that. So I don't think we'll be weeping and gnashing our teeth come awards season.

Also, members from all three of the losing fandoms flooded the Downton Abbey tag (also the DowntoWn Abbey tag because they didn't even know the actual show that won, apparently) with bullshit and hate.

So yeah, it is pretty funny and I will continue to laugh and laugh and laugh when fandoms show their asses.

Season 4 of Thick of It not even getting a nomination is a fucking disgrace
mjspice 24th-Jan-2013 10:01 am (UTC)
You're too late, Martin. Tommy Lee Jones already been there done that.
katikat 24th-Jan-2013 12:56 pm (UTC)
Not really. He made that exact face last year already when Sherlock was passed over for Downton. So it was Tommy Lee Jones who was too late to the party.
octoberstarlite 24th-Jan-2013 12:15 pm (UTC)
Lol at people thinking that expression was for real.
elegantbanter 24th-Jan-2013 03:08 pm (UTC)
Cackling forever at the weeping fangirls on Tumblr.
So freaking happy that Colin won, yay British public! I want so many great things for him and the rest of this cast, I'm going to miss them so much.

Happy that Downton won too. I love DW but the quality has just diminished recently for me, so don't think they deserved the awards this year. Is Martin Freeman serious with that face? His show really isn't great /sorrynotsorry.

Forgot to mention, so glad that Corrie did so well this year! Alan's worked really hard (the sl has been genuinely upsetting), but I sad that Natalie didn't win her category too!

It's not the british public. Voting was open to anyone anywhere in the world with an email account (or multiple email accounts to facilitate multiple voting). A lot of people who are Sherlock and Doctor Who fans and would have considered voting for those guys and their shows in other years did otherwise, particularly in the best actor category, because it was Merlin's last year. All the acting nominees did great work, but Colin Morgan definitely deserved some form of recognition for his years on Merlin and this type of award show is the best chance for it since Merlin isn't a prestige kind of program likely to win awards from critics and the like.

Do you really think Downton won due to quality assessment? I suspect it was more to do with the fact that all the best drama contenders have considerable sized fanbases but there is a big overlap between the Sherlock, Merlin and DW fans which meant vote splitting would damage those shows' chances. And while there was a lot of united feeling about Colin there wasn't really as much about the show Merlin because even most hardcore Merlin fans admire the actors but frequently curse the writers. If the nominees had been three popular period piece posh soaps plus one popular sci-fi/fantasy nerd type show I expect Downton's chances would have likewise suffered from vote splitting and a win by the sci-fi/fantasy fan attracting show would have produced the same kind of "aw man, I would have preferred any of the other three!" kind of groaning from many posh period soap lovers.

Martin Freeman was joking around. A couple of the Merlin guys were doing the same sort of thing - pulling faces at the camera or tweeting jokes about how of course they can't compete with slow motion cricket. Downton has won so much over the years I imagine they can deal with a bit of light ribbing from colleagues at a not so serious award show.

I suppose that makes sense, I voted online after all; the radio times did have an NTA form to fill out and send off so I figured that the majority of voters would be the British
public tbh, I don't even know if these awards are popular elsewhere.

I see what you mean about the tv show genre/audience split but still Doctor Who won In years where Merlin and Ashes to Ashes were also in the category, so in the end I think It just comes down to what show you've preferred this past year. I'm not really a tumblr stan, so idk if there was any sort of 'tactical' voting going on in the categories or whatever, but I just know that I was more engrossed in Downton than DW, Merlin or Sherlock this year though I watch all of them (and I have voted for the first two in other years). I love Merlin, but like you said the writing isn't without fault, so it's not surprising to me that if they were going to win it would be through Colin. I love Doctor Who and used to enjoy Sherlock but over-exposure etc. has kinda ruined it for me right now.

Lol, I'm really not pressed at all on behalf of Downton, it was obvious to me that Merlin's cast were joking around (I laughed!) and with Martin Freeman I literally can never judge whether he's being serious or not so...

Totally late to the party, but I'm lucky that I haven't seen many Sherlock fans on my Tumblr dash complaining that Colin Morgan won. Actually, a lot of them took a break from their frequent Benedict Cumberbatch/Sherlock spam to congratulate him.
