Aretha Franklin LOLs at Beyoncé’s Lip-Syncing, should join ONTD.

gty_beyonce_aretha_franklin_inauguartaion_singing_thg_130123_wmain

ABC News caught up with the Queen of Soul to discuss Beyoncégate, and Aretha is really enjoying this:

"When I heard [she lip-synched] I just really cracked up. I thought it was really funny, but she did a beautiful job with the pre-record."

As for her own inauguration performance in 2009, Franklin says she "wanted to give people the real thing and pre-recording never crossed [her] mind." She added that "next time" she probably would lip-synch.

respect

Aretha's hat > Beyonce's performance, y/y?

Franklin added that Kelly Clarkson, who did sing live, and also sang "My Country 'Tis of Thee" was "magnificent" as well.

"I enjoyed every minute," Franklin said, adding that she "loved" Clarkson's arrangement of the song.

shanny_w 23rd-Jan-2013 10:35 pm (UTC)
They'd prob go as far as getting a medium to interview Rob. I recall a seance in Britain quite soon after MJ passed. MJ "jumped" into the mans body and he started to weep about his childhood, had convos with super fans/impersonators etc.
abiding 23rd-Jan-2013 09:11 pm (UTC)
I was so sad we were not blessed with a glorious hat from either Beyonce or Kelly this year.
superdogbiter 23rd-Jan-2013 09:12 pm (UTC)
Aretha is superior
__nocturna 23rd-Jan-2013 09:12 pm (UTC)
Why are people still surprised at stuff like this, the National Anthem is usually pre-recorded for big events, isn't it? who cares
cageyb 23rd-Jan-2013 09:23 pm (UTC)
At the last inauguration the string quartet mimed to a pre-recording and literally no one cared or was outraged. But people act like Beyonce ate their children over this.
lipsofdynamite 23rd-Jan-2013 10:17 pm (UTC)
Idc that Beyonce lip-synched, but there is a huge difference between singing in extremely cold weather and playing string instruments in extremely cold weather.

Aretha's hat should have had its own seat right behind Beyonce during her performance.
cheeseasauras 23rd-Jan-2013 09:15 pm (UTC)
This. So much.
shanny_w 23rd-Jan-2013 10:37 pm (UTC)

Omg I love suna no shiro. Someone posted it here ages ago. I LOVE IT. She's awesome.
rctshack 24th-Jan-2013 01:09 am (UTC)
agreed. These are professional singers... Beyonce isn't some music student. And when did 42 become extreme weather?
treebraids 23rd-Jan-2013 09:15 pm (UTC)
"When I heard [she lip-synched] I just really cracked up. I thought it was really funny, but she did a beautiful job with the pre-record."
