Jimmy Olsen to be reimagined as Jenny Olsen in Man Of Steel(?)

Upcoming Superman movie Man Of Steel is thought to have changed the gender of character Jimmy Olsen, reinventing the Daily Planet reporter as Jenny Olsen, to be played by Rebecca Buller.

Olsen, a colleague of Clark Kent’s who occasionally aides him in his quest for justice, appeared in the original Superman movies along with TV spin-offs Smallville and The New Adventures of Superman.

The character is listed as female on Man Of Steel’s IMDb page, with ‘Jenny Olsen’ down to be portrayed by Rebecca Buller.

The film is now in post-production and rumours of Olsen’s regendering have been given weight by a scene in Man Of Steel’s first trailer in which Daily Planet editor Perry White (Laurence Fishburne) is seen running from an explosion with Buller.

The actress’s role has yet to be officially confirmed by Warner Bros, however.

The character of Jimmy Olsen first appeared in Action Comics #6 back in 1938, listed as ‘Superman’s Pal’.

Olsen has previously been played by Jack Larson, Marc McClure, Michael Landes, Justin Whalin, Aaron Ashmore and Sam Huntington.

Man Of Steel will star Henry Cavill as a more conflicted Superman than we’ve seen before and will be released in cinemas on June 14.

Exactly. People still use Ethel and Ophelia and Otis and even Caesar these days. Why can't Jimmy have a chance?

it'd be better than some of the stuff people are trying to bring back.

idk i don't think the name is bad at all for a girl. Not like i'd name my kid that though but i had a personal aversion to the names james and all it's connections.
