what confuses me about this is that in the beginning i could have sworn her mic wasn't working and i was sort of hearing her sing but the mic wasn't picking up her voice

Yeah, so I don't really believe this. Not to mention, if she was lip syncing, I doubt she would rip her ear piece out since that would raise questions about her performance.

If she was miming with no sound coming out of her mouth then yes, lol. But she was singing over a pre-recorded track, which is not lip syncing.

Earned? There are a plenty of people who could've taken her place and done it 10x better LIVE. There's no excuse for lip synching when you're a singer, in my opinion.
