Broke actress turns down Dancing With the Stars

Lindsay Lohan's ego might be her downfall -- because TMZ has learned, she just shut down a lucrative offer to do "Dancing with the Stars" ... because she doesn't want to do reality TV.

Sources close to Lindsay tell us, the actress was made several offers to join the DWTS cast this upcoming season -- offers that maxed out at $550,000.

But Lindsay -- who still owes hundreds of thousands in back taxes -- shut them down, telling friends she'd never consider doing reality TV ... she wants to stick to films.

But there's one problem -- after "The Canyons" fiasco, she's basically made herself unhireable. And as the saying goes, beggars can't be choosers.

A rep for DWTS tells us, "We don't comment on casting."

Dumb move on her part. I can't see someone offering her a legitimate film role any time soon. Reality TV would probably be a good move for her at this point financially. Plus, if she could keep it together for an hour or so a day during filming she might even be able to come across as likable and win back some public opinion which would also help. No I'm not just rambling this because I'm bitter she wasn't on Celeb Big Brother.

She wouldn't last week 1. She likes films because she gets paid a lot of money for doing fuck all. Yeah, yeah, actors get into character and whatever but they spend most of their time being blown by anyone willing and sitting in their bus-sized trailers (Lohan probably just has a private portaloo).

Hard training to become a dancer? She isn't interested in hard work, she just wants money.

She should do it and there should be a reporter there documenting every second for another NYT article that is way too long but I'll still compulsively read.

probably in part to the creeps that hang around her going, "omg linds you're way too good for that! don't do it! you're needed in films!" and she's like, "...yeah! you're right."

Meh, I get her decision. She still thinks that she can make a come back and doing reality TV really kind of is a step you can't really bounce back from. Even TV movies/miniseries are fine since quite a few of A/B+-listers do them, but DWTS, c'mon? Even if it's on the classier spectrum of reality TV, people like Lisa Rinna do them.
Not saying she can make a comeback, but if she intends to, it's the right move.

if she was going to do reality tv, i dont think dancing with the stars would be the best fit. too much discipline involved and practice behind the scenes.

What makes me sad is that she's still going to continue to get work, she's going to not have any repercussions from her legal trouble, she's going to get the money she needs to get out of debt from friends, and she's not going to learn her lesson. She's going to enter that cycle all over again. She's never going to learn. People are going to continue bailing her out so to speak. She's going to continue to get work in film and television even though there are so many other actors/actresses out there who could act circles around her and are much more responsible and aware of the world around them.
