I'm not gonna watch the clip but I hope it's shaming her for being a fake stunt queen and NOT for the number of people she dates. It's her fakeness and her Kim Kardashian levels of tabloid thirst/willingness to exploit her private life that's obnoxious As well as her whole princess/girl-woman persona and repetitive lyricsw
It's not even the fact that she dates a lot, it's just that it's obviously calculated that she dates famous/interesting guys so that she'll sell records and fuels speculation over who it is
I mean no one really knows who 21 is about, and while there's speculation it's not that frenzied cause Adele didn't hawk her album over the mystery of it all + he's a nobody so who really curr
Just, the whole notes and secret codes thing and coy allusions is what I think most people think is tacky at this point. Yes, everyone has boys/breakup songs but nobody peddles the music over a "who broke my heart this time in this song" shtick.
It's her fakeness and her Kim Kardashian levels of tabloid thirst/willingness to exploit her private life that's obnoxious
I would add that it's also the hypocrisy of exploiting her private life but at the same time asking/demanding for privacy and refusing to answer questions when people ask her about who/what her songs are about.
In my opinion girl can date as much as she wants, she just needs to stop throwing shade on other girls to make herself look like the typical nice girl. Does that make sense?
So since she was just Harry I'm going to comment slightly off topic and say I randomly heard a One Direction song the other day and I AM PHYSICALLY UNABLE TO STOP LISTENING TO IT I DONT EVEN-- The only song I've ever heard by them is What Makes You Beautiful and I was like meh whatever. BUT THIS SONG HAS DUG ITS CLAWS INTO MY FUCKING BRAIN and it's been on repeat for 2 days now and :(
I wish Taylor was moreso the type to laugh at the jokes made about her. I mean she's making bank off of her schtick so props to that, now laugh to the bank.
In some interview she said that at award shows if they make a joke about you and you're not laughing, they won't pan to you. which made tina's (lame imo) joke at the golden globes so much better because they never showed her. You know she was pissed.
Glad I clicked only because I watched the Ryan Gosling suggested video after this clip and it was so much funnier and more charming than this overplayed joke.
Sometimes idk why I even bother coming into these posts anymore, it's all the same recycled comments and arguments over which exact brand of slut-shaming this woman may or may not be guilty of or may or may not be a victim of.
Like jfc, it IS actually possible for women to slut-shame and be slut-shamed at the same time. Both instances are wrong no matter how you spin it. The only thing Taylor deserves to be criticized for here is her hypocrisy, not her little black book.
I have definitely seen people doing both. Trust me, I'm the last person who wants to defend Taylor Swift, but it is getting to the point where she IS being shamed for dating a lot, when there are plenty of other things to criticize her for.
I don't think people are slit shaming her, I think people are mocking her exploitation of her personal life for her professional. Which is fine, because se makes an insane amount of money through her use of personal relationship experiences in her music. However, I have always believed that you should be able to take heat for that exploitation because it has become your professional work. It's why Kim k got so much heat over her marriage ending- people thought she used a relationship to make money. I think as long as Taylor understands that she will get criticism for that, she will be fine. I don't think it's a case of slut shaming. I will say that this community has an excessive dislike for her, and that is why there are so many posts. I personally don't care for her music because it is catered to the same audience, Tweens. I was hoping that now that she is 23 she would sing about more mature subjects in her singles, but I guess she wants to keep with the demographic she is making money from- which is fine, it's just not for me personally.
