Taylor Swift: “I can never decide if I want love or my own space”

In an interview with VIBE’s January issue, Taylor Swift opened up about her love life.

“Independence is something I’ve always needed, from when I was young," she says, "but I love the idea of romance and falling in love. I’ve never really had a long relationship. So that’s something I think about for the future. It’s an interesting part of my personality: Part of me just wants to be alone .... Sagittarians are really independent, and we like our space. We’re drawn to love but battle for that need for independence."

In another recent interview with Parade, she revealed: People think I want to get married really young - I don't know why. I'm a romantic person, but that doesn't mean I want to miss out on being in my young 20s."

Despite writing about it so prolifically, Swift claims not to know much about love. "I tend to think things are love and then look back and reevaluate."

Taylor Swift invites sick fan to lunch in Nashville

Taylor Swift had lunch with Kayla Kincannon, a sick fan from Madison Heights, Michigan, on Saturday (19 January) in her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee.

Swift's mother Andrea phoned Kayla and arranged for Swift's tour bus to transport the teenager, who was staying elsewhere in Tennessee, to lunch.

The teenager recently celebrated her 17th birthday in the midst of a battle against brain cancer. She had been undergoing chemotherapy and it appeared to be working. However, Kayla recently learned she has another, larger brain tumor which developed during her treatment.

Her family and friends launched a social media campaign, OperationGetKaylaToMeetTaylorSwift, in December

Taylor Swift donates 2,000 books to hospital's early literacy program

Taylor Swift is giving something back to the hospital where she was born.

Swift, a native of Wyomissing, Berks Co., and Scholastic Inc., have donated 2,000 books to the Reading Hospital's Child Health Center's early literacy program.

She made the donation through the national Reach Out and Read initiative, which promotes early childhood literacy by bringing new books and information about the importance of reading aloud into the pediatric exam room, officials said.

The Reading Hospital's Child Health Center gives each child between the ages of six months to five years a new, developmentally and culturally appropriate book to take home from their visit, officials said. Over time, children can receive up to 10 books for their home library.

Swift has promoted the importance of literacy and education throughout her career. Collapse )

People expect for her to have her shit together at 23. She should be dating around to see what she likes and doesn't. Sounds like a normal youngster to me.

But I really hate when people think their zodiac sign means something. Like about their personality or who they should date because certain signs "get along together". So dumb.
beatlesluv 21st-Jan-2013 07:13 pm (UTC)
I don't think everyone expects her to have her shit together, I think some people 30+ don't even have their shit together. I expect them to stop calling her a kid, stop slutshamming her, and for her to develop her music to something a little bet less gimmicky...or not so obviously so.

I don't think any of that means much either...some of it I think 'oh that's me' and then I read horoscopes and I'm reminded of how much of a joke it all is.
lulufairybubble 21st-Jan-2013 07:13 pm (UTC)
I think it's more the desperation that people find off putting.

i agree with all of this. 23 is still rly young; there's nothing wrong with her having short relationships or dating around.

and haha yeah i agree so hard w/the zodiac thing. i think the zodiac can be fun, but i think it's rly silly when ppl take it seriously. like i'm a pisces but i'm also ~independent and my sign describes absolutely nothing about my personality so what now
empirebird 21st-Jan-2013 07:09 pm (UTC)
you need all kinds of space. hopefully maturity comes with it.
tiiara 21st-Jan-2013 07:10 pm (UTC)
say what you will about her love life/personality, but there is no doubt that she is great to her fans. she goes above and beyond for them. i think she's even done like 13 hour autograph signing sessions which is nuts.
kknee13 21st-Jan-2013 07:13 pm (UTC)
she did and it was so nice I wanted to go but nashville is like 10 hours away from me

tiiara 21st-Jan-2013 07:17 pm (UTC)
awww i didn't even know it was happening. i miss her hair like this.
callmemaybeplz 21st-Jan-2013 07:14 pm (UTC)
Yeah she's always really nice to fans and doesn't do the signing and "thank you for coming." She usually holds a small convo when meeting them or at least attempts to.
hireaunicorn 21st-Jan-2013 07:16 pm (UTC)
She said she was gonna do a 13 hour session but it ended up being 15 because there were too many fans
hahahey 21st-Jan-2013 07:11 pm (UTC)
the charity stuff is nice of her

Nashville seems like a nice place to live, mainly the restaurants always look cozy and nice.

Her dress in the last pic is the plaid from my high school uniform. And that dress is just about as flattering as my uniform was. Why, Taylor, why?

"Interview with VIBE magazine" ????

but....

nvm
kals07 21st-Jan-2013 07:17 pm (UTC)
This is sad. She makes one irrelevant statement and everyone goes crazy about it calling her an idiot/bitch while ignoring the charity stuff also involved in the post. I get that this is a gossip/celebrity site but it's making me sad right now.

Yes, I'm being "that guy"
booster_blue 21st-Jan-2013 07:21 pm (UTC)
Are you readign the same post? Because there's just as much talk going on about her kindness to fans/charity as there is her eyeroll-worthy love life.

Plus, a person can be nice and an idiot.
lennoxs 21st-Jan-2013 07:34 pm (UTC)
no there isn't lmao
rolt_me 21st-Jan-2013 07:26 pm (UTC)
it was nice of her but how useful is it to donate books. why not donate ereaders or computers. we're living in the 21st century. dead trees are dead.
shesceltic 21st-Jan-2013 07:36 pm (UTC)
thank you.
