It's honestly amazing to me that 2 years ago no one knew who the hell she was and now she's nominated for Oscars back to back and her movies are topping the box office. I don't deny that she is beautiful and talented aka deserving of her success, but so are a lot of people. Just wondering if she sold her soul to the devil or what.

A lot of it is just luck. Her big break came when she was cast in The Tree of Life back in '07. The movie was filmed and then went through a series of delays. But Malick is a BFD and so people were paying attention to the movie and to her and she got cast in a whole bunch of other stuff that was also delayed. So last year everything was finally released and she got to show up everywhere which pushed her star even further than it would have gone if everything had had the staggered release it should have.
