A year after file-storage site MegaUpload was brought down by U.S. law enforcement officials targeting piracy, flamboyant founder Kim DotCom has cut the ribbon on his new site, Mega.
"As of this minute one year ago #Megaupload was destroyed by the US Government. Welcome to http://Mega.co.nz," DotCom tweeted today.

tbh the death of megaupload just lead to a bigger rise of websites that uploaded to multiple hosts for the same files. i see a lot more websites where they will post like 10 diff links for each movie/tv show.

oh, actually i meant like forums/blogs that will make posts for movies/tv/etc. and actually upload to a bunch of individual file hosts. but that includes uploading to emdebupload, go4up, multiupload, too.

is true. Everyone knew and used Megaupload so once it died it gave a chance to other websites appear and take over.
Didn't Kim Dotcom lawyer said in court they just can't shut down a highway to control speed? He was right in every way

I agree! IMO Megaupload getting shut down has only made the downloading experience better for me, now I have multiple download links to choose from and streaming sites have gotten better. That stupid 72 minute limit was the bane of my existence.

My personal fave is watchseries-online.eu, but tv-links.eu is also really good and 1channel.ch is decent, but I hate its layout and the services it uploads to.

mediafire was the worst travesty. I loved being able to time in a song name and then mediafire into google and getting so many links. ;[

same, and for albums too. my mediafire account was frozen because i had a few songs up there, so they wiped my ~important things~ too without any warning.

now i have a chrome plugin that can download off tumblr, so i just search for the song on tumblr.

I'm happy because no other site was ever as good as megaupload for downloading. I hate streaming so megaupload had such short d/l times and those links were around FOREVER. I hope it's still like that, I've given up downloading since Megaupload went down lol

Same here! I haven't found a decent torrent site with complete seasons of tv shows with dvd extras on it! It was only on demonoid that I was able to download the blu-ray Game of Thrones extras. UGHHHH I want it back so badlyyyyy

if you like to download your files instead of stream, you should go on http://www.myrls.me/ and http://tv-release.net/
get something like jdownloader. when you copy/paste a whole list of links it checks if the links are dead or alive for you. then you can queue them up in a download list. if a movie is in a bunch of compressed .rar parts, it will also extract it for you.

I've been downloading for years with free file hosting sites lol. Tbh the only time something happened was like maybe 6 years ago and I downloaded heroes using BitTorrent and I got a warning from Comcast that they got a warning from NBC. I should have known. Heroes was immensely popular and I downloaded the first season like right when it was up on torrents and I seeded it a lot. I have learned now lol.
