'Switched at Birth:' Tolerance Retreat Required

Vanessa Marano and Sean Berdy share a moment in this new still from Switched at Birth.

In next week’s episode “Duel Between Two Women,” Bay (Marano) finds herself on the wrong end of Natalie’s wrath, forcing Melody (Marlee Matlin) to take everyone on a Tolerance Retreat to help bridge the divide between them.

Meanwhile, Kathryn (Lea Thompson) possibly hurts John’s (D.W. Moffatt) campaign during a radio interview; Regina (Constance Marie) gets bad news about her health and Toby (Lucas Grabeel) and Lana bond.

“Duel Between Two Women” airs Monday, January 21st @ 8PM ET/PT on ABC Family.

I was never interested in the premise of this show but I'm pretty sure I could never watch it because it has April from Gilmore Girls in it and I hated her.

I thought the same thing, but Vanessa Marano was Hope West on Scoundrels (which I watched for Patrick Flueger) and her character was badass enough that I'm now able to overlook her Gilmore Girls days.

I can't watch Switched at Birth, though, because the writing is awful. And I say this as someone who watches Pretty Little Liars, so my tolerance for stupid shit is actually quite high.

at first all I could focus on was that she was April and it didn't help that her character on Switched At Birth was annoying as fuck too but the character has gotten a lot better imo

Yeah, I sorta hated Bay at first and now she's hands-down my fav.

Bay is the best character on this show though, shockingly, because at first I hated her. But she's by far the most sympathetic, IMO (to a degree).

That's how I felt at first but now I forget she was April and Bay is the only reason I continue to watch tbh.

Same here. And it's not the poor girl's fault (well, it partially is, but she didn't write the lines or the character) but I just can't deal with her. She was on an episode of Parenthood in one of the earlier seasons where she actually was hanging out with Lauren Graham's character's son and I was like NOOOOOOOOOOOOO, get away from this show NOW! She left at least.

I never understand why they think story lines such as these are believable.

Forcing teenagers into group therapy is a risky enough maneuver unlikely to yield any tangible results on its own, but making them suffer this bullshit it IN THE WOODS is pure madness.

That girl is so sexy it's ridiculous. And it's weird because she's supposed to be 16 or some shit on the show so when I watch it I have to like slap myself when she's in those pants of hers.

can't wait. i love this show, even though some of the plots are a little.. eh. but then ones like this week's episode bring it back down to being "real", i guess.
