TNT has ordered a bounty hunter drama pilot from Leverage executive producer Dean Devlin.
Nearly one month after the cable network opted not to renew the caper drama for a sixth season, it is staying in business with Devlin for an untitled project toplined by Geena Davis and inspired by the real-life story of Mackenzie Green.
The one-hour drama stars Davis as an unconventional bail bondswoman and bounty hunter whose eccentric personality and unusual tactics give her an advantage in a tough and unpredictable business.
Scott Prendergast and Amy Berg wrote the script, with Devlin set to direct. The trio would serve as executive producers, along with John Altschuler, Dave Krinsky, Tom Lassally and Michael Rotenberg.
This marks Devlin's third TNT project, including Leverage and The Librarian TV movies. Earlier Thursday, the network ordered an unscripted project from Jerry Bruckheimer.
Davis toplined ABC's Commander-in-Chief and The Geena Davis Show. More recently, the actress appeared in the AMC miniseries Coma.

I will never understand the idiots who think her career died with Cutthroat Island. If anything, it propelled her career forward. She's an ambassador, won an Emmy award in 2006, and she even has her own institute for women.

Well, a lot of people have the impression that movies are more glamorous than tv shows, and that being a movie star is a bigger deal than being a tv star. I mean, an Oscar is a bigger deal than an Emmy in most people's eyes. So when Geena Davis went from doing movies to doing TV shows, it's seen as a step down from what she's accomplished in cinema.
Personally, I think she's been awesome in the things I've seen her in. I like the one where she played an amnesiac assassin.
Among people more savvy regarding their popular entertainment maybe, but generally speaking, movies are still seen as more impressive, a category at the top of a hierarchy for ranking actors and their star power. But yeah, I agree there's a lot of exciting shows in TV nowadays--there's undoubtedly a lot of talent there.
And yeah, that assassin movie was super fun!
The thing about film is that it is easier to judge. You sit down for two hours or thereabouts and you pass judgment and know how you felt. TV shows take investment and some people give up early or just never tune it not wanting to take the time to get there.
Plus when she first went to TV, film stars going to TV was viewed as a downgrade. It's not like today, where you hear x A-lister is coming to TV and everyone is flipping out and setting up their TiVos amidst immediate Emmy buzz. Back then a huge star coming to TV was a giant "Do Not Watch" signal because people assumed they were hard up and taking anything.
Which is a shame because even with her bad luck in keeping shows on air she's done amazing work on TV that so many people never saw.
Looking for pics on google is not turning anything up, but I distinctly remember it because it was covered on basically all of the gossip blogs (and probably here). It was when she was doing Coma iirc

I have no problem with the woman, but Island deserves to be the enormous flop it is.
I've literally never seen a movie she was in that I didn't love and love her in it (AUTHOR'S NOTE: I've never seen Cutthroat Island)
Just thinking about having her in my living room every week is giving me goosebumps
This new show though sounds a lot like that boring mess 'Chase' on NBC (which lasted like 3 episodes), with Kelli Giddish. Hopefully, Geena Davis can play a great female bounty hunter.
reminds me to go watch Beetlejuice!
