Michael J. Fox and Taylor Swift quash their nonexistant feud

Michael J. Fox totally knows who Taylor Swift is, you guys.

The iconic actor got in touch with our favorite country-pop heartbreaker to clear the air on a few not-so-flattering comments that he made about her at a recent book signing, and with that, the feud between two of the least-threatening celebrities on earth has come to an anticlimactic end.

Here's how it all went down. Fox's son, Sam, was Mr. Golden Globes at the ceremony on Sunday -- meaning he carried the trophies on stage and stood around looking like a flashback to 1985, when the world was pure. Hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler got a little fake-tipsy midway through the show, and Fey grumbled, "Taylor Swift, stay away from Michael J. Fox's son!"

Take note: Swift and Sam have probably never met, because she did not win her category at the Golden Globes, and thus sparks did not have the chance to fly as he handed her a trophy. Also, she probably has no interest in dating him, because he works for a small startup company that helps farmers sell their crops, and nothing about that rhymes with anything catchy.

Still, a reporter felt the need to ask Fox what he thought about Sam and Swift's hypothetical (read: completely fabricated) hookup.

Fox didn't exactly say the nicest things about Swift. "No. No ... Just back off," he said. "I don't keep up with it all, but Taylor Swift writes songs about everybody she goes out with, right? What a way to build a career ... I wouldn't even know who she was."

Ouch.

Obviously, Swift's army of fans rose up on Twitter against Fox. We're pretty sure this marks the first time in his long and storied career that anybody has disliked him, at all, even a little bit. He wasn't about to lose his place as the most adored actor ever, so he gave Swift a call to make things right between them. Swift tweeted out a signal to her fans to back down from their Michael J. Fox hate.

And now, we can all forget about this until her next album comes out with a song titled "Think, McFly, Think (Before You Speak)."
