J.J. Abrams Is Producing a Movie About Lance Armstrong

The entirety of Lance Armstrong's confessional interview with Oprah hasn't aired yet, but there's already a movie in development about his fall. Deadline reports that the film will be produced by Paramount and J.J. Abrams's Bad Robot and be based on Juliet Macur's book Cycle of Lies: The Fall of Lance Armstrong. There's no word yet on whether the film will focus on Armstrong's entire life or just the most recent events.

so how much money is he going to make out of this confessing thing? bc clearly he made as much as he could out of doping/lying/bullying.

how would he make money right now? isn't he gonna be sued up the ass by a million people?
bostongirl2003 19th-Jan-2013 01:32 am (UTC)
I think he could get paid for the interviews he gives.

WILL WE HAVE LENS FLARES THOUGH?
la_petite_singe 18th-Jan-2013 09:03 pm (UTC)
Well, that was...fast. Is it true he (Lance) isn't allowed to profit from anything related to a crime he committed, or did I make that up? I feel like I heard that on Law & Order or something.

He would have to be convicted first, and it would have to be in a state that has that legislation
littlehayzay 18th-Jan-2013 09:19 pm (UTC)
No, you're thinking of when someone murders someone else - they can't profit off it (a book or inheriting their money or whatever) and IDK if that's even a law everywhere. He can definitely make money off cheating.
la_petite_singe 18th-Jan-2013 09:20 pm (UTC)
...Oh. Huh. Maybe watching 15 years of crime shows isn't the same as actually being a lawyer. Weird. Well, getmoneybitch.gif, I suppose.

His face is so creepy.
_storysofar 18th-Jan-2013 09:06 pm (UTC)
I'm still confused as to why he would admit it? Why didn't he just keep denying it, at this point?
mynamehere07 18th-Jan-2013 09:11 pm (UTC)
IKR. He was a cocky SOB about the whole thing and put on a great show. He probably thought the Oprah interview would make people forgive him or something.
eaglefan2011 18th-Jan-2013 09:16 pm (UTC)
he's trying to persuade (whichever agency) to reduce his ban so he can race in triathlons. but the agencies have said they want a confession under oath
However, WADA says "only when Mr. Armstrong makes a full confession under oath - and tells the anti-doping authorities all he knows about doping activities - can any legal and proper process for him to seek any reopening or reconsideration of his lifetime ban commence."

so these tv interviews are probably just for money idk

There seems to be a consensus that he is spinning the story to limit his legal liability. His confession misses a lot of questions that people have been asking.
littlehayzay 18th-Jan-2013 09:18 pm (UTC)
He wants to compete in triathlons and marathons and you gotta figure he's going to lose a significant amount of money due to lawsuits, returned prize money, and lawyers, etc. so he probably is trying to make some cash.

Matthew was a friend of Armstrong's, not sure if they still are. I don't know if he'd even agree.

That's why I'd pay money to see it.
