See, I was told the writing got better, so I tried some later episodes after the first few fell flat, and it still seemed really obvious and predictable. And I really WANT to like it.
I think Jonny Lee Miller's acting is definitely good enough -- I like him. It's not really about JLM vs. BC for me (for one, JLM wins on looks, and I'm not above being shallow), it's about the writing in one show being clearly more intricate than the writing in the other show.
And it's not all about the comparison to the BBC show anyway. That's a secondary concern. Even on it's own merits, I'm not feeling it. The only thing working for it is that I like the actors and they have good chemistry and interaction.
