Leonardo DiCaprio to take 'long break'

BERLIN: "Django Unchained" and "Titanic" star Leonardo DiCaprio said on Friday he was planning to take a significant break from filming and concentrate on his environmental campaigning.

In an interview with Germany's mass circulation daily Bild, the 38-year-old American actor said: "I am a bit drained. I'm now going to take a long, long break. I've done three films in two years and I'm just worn out."

"I would like to improve the world a bit. I will fly around the world doing good for the environment," added DiCaprio, in comments published in German.

DiCaprio is currently starring in Quentin Tarantino's blood-soaked spaghetti Western tribute "Django Unchained," which picked up two Golden Globes on Sunday.

He has also recently filmed "The Great Gatsby", directed by Baz Luhrmann and Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf of Wall Street."

He burnished his green credentials in the Bild interview, saying: "My roof is covered with solar panels. My car is electric. A normal person does not drive more than 50 kilometres (31 miles) a day. That can be done with a plug."

Ok so I just saw Django Unchained yesterday. I'm not sure if I LIKED it per se. I enjoyed the performances (Foxx, Waltz, DiCaprio etc) but I wish Kerry Washington had been used more.

My audience was mostly white and were laughing every time someone said the n word (!) which really ruined the experience for me. I was also unsure on how to feel about the excessive usage of the n word. I did a lot of reading on DU and people's opinions before I saw the movie and I agree there was WAY too much usage of it in the movie but maybe I'm just sensitive idk.

All in all, I enjoyed the movie and thought Leo did an awesome job, but my personal favorite really was Jamie Foxx. I'm not his biggest fan but he was great in this movie.

I feel like some people laugh when they're uncomfortable. White people (anyone non-black actually) probably don't know how they're 'supposed' to react to it.

Maybe I'm giving them too much credit.

I was glad the screener leaked so I could watch it at home without the second-hand embarrassment of seeing the people in my almost all-white town make asses of themselves.

I thought Jamie Foxx was awesome in the movie. The movie itself was just ok imo, ia about Kerry Washington

ia about the n-word issue, i kinda want to see this film but i don't want to see it with a couple of hundred ignorant people so...

Jamie should have gotten a nomination imo.

my audience was mostly white elderly people and a few young ones (it was a matinee at a smaller arthouse theatre) and whenever it was said it didn't get much of a response, tbh. we laughed during all of christoph's witty lines and during a lot of the violence tbh.

i really loved django and i'm a big fan of tarantino's movies in general but i got really uncomfortable with that word extremely early on. i felt as though it was used so much as to create a desensitization of it but this had the opposite effect on me.

if it helps at all, no one in my theater laughed at it unless it happened to be used in an actually comical line. i can't imagine people thinking "el oh el a word representing the systematic oppression and dehumanization of millions of people is just hilar" so idk where you're living and going to movies but clearly it's time to move tbh
