Les Mis Cast to Perform at the Oscars

LES MISERABLES Cast to Perform at the 85th Academy Awards!

According to Daily Mail, the cast of the Academy Award nominated LES MISERABLES will be performing at the Oscars this February. The song that will be performed is still undecided, but rumors are circulating that it will likely be either be a medley, or one of the ensemble numbers such as 'One Day More' or 'Do You Hear The People Sing.'

The paper reports that "It's still being decided what song will be sung, but Samantha will participate with other cast members such as best actor nominee Hugh Jackman, best supporting actress front-runner Anne Hathaway, heart-throb Eddie Redmayne, Amanda Seyfried and others in one of the rousing crowd numbers - One Day More or Do You Hear The People Sing.

The other idea being discussed is to have a medley with, perhaps, Anne performing an excerpt of I Dreamed A Dream (which she sings with heart-breaking raw emotion in the picture); Samantha coming in with On My Own; Hugh giving us his Who Am I? or Bring Him Home, and so on."

The 85th Academy Awards will be presented live on Oscar Sunday, February 24, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood and Highland Center, and televised live by the ABC Television Network.

Helmed by The King's Speech's Academy Award-winning director, Tom Hooper, the Working Title/Cameron Mackintosh production stars Hugh Jackman, Oscar winner Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Aaron Tveit, Samantha Barks, with Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen.

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, LES MISERABLES tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, Sacrifice and redemption-a timeless Testament to the survival of the human spirit. Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for Decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine's (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.

my thoughts exactly, I would rather hear the songs that are nominated.
crucified 18th-Jan-2013 07:10 am (UTC)
Not sure how I feel about this tbh.
beatlesluv 18th-Jan-2013 12:44 pm (UTC)
I don't think I like it...

This is something I'd expect at the Tony Awards, not so much the Oscars. It is very...weird to me. What's the point of having a live performance, not like the other nominees in that category are going to re-play their roles or get into character again -_-
tracygee 18th-Jan-2013 02:55 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I like it, too.

Plus, the movie is based on the stage musical. It's made to be sung live on stage. It should be a nice way to show off everyone's singing voices, etc.
moonbunnii 18th-Jan-2013 07:10 am (UTC)

My first thought was PLEASE NOT CROWE.

Hopefully he'll sit it out. Maybe he'll have "a cold" or something.
julietislimited 18th-Jan-2013 07:12 am (UTC)
I finally saw it! It wasn't the worst but it wasn't that great. it really wasn't worth the $12 ticket.

I still can believe Do You Hear The People Sing isn't on the soundtrack.
ohyves 18th-Jan-2013 12:54 pm (UTC)

Bullshit! They don't have time to fit this in. They didn't even perform the nominated songs last year.
cuteej4 18th-Jan-2013 07:16 am (UTC)
Really because only one of them actually qualified.

Who wanted to hear that bullshit Rio song
musicnextdoor 18th-Jan-2013 07:19 am (UTC)
Who wants to hear Seth Macfarlane do anything?
fwee_prower 18th-Jan-2013 07:35 am (UTC)
They only do it when musicals are nominated like dream girls, Chicago, enchanted, etc.
likegunfire 18th-Jan-2013 07:14 am (UTC)

Tbh, I was disappointed in Samantha. She was better in the 25th anniversary.

And I'm pressed she wasnt better in the movie because i really rooted for her casting lol
