Kelly Ripa uses botox on face and armpits, stays thin due to SoulCycle

Her face is projected on 6 million viewers' HD-TV screens practically every morning.

And Live! with Kelly and Michael host Kelly Ripa has admitted she receives Botox injections every seven months in order to keep her pretty face looking its best.

'It's the Botox. Every seven months or so my eyelid skin rests on my eyelashes,' the 42-year-old star revealed in the February issue of Elle Magazine.

'So I feel like [Botox] makes my makeup artist's life easier, and it makes my eyes look a little more open on TV, which is where I happen to work right now.'

The three-time Emmy winner has even had injections in her armpits to prevent sweating, and she maintains her super-slim frame thanks to frequent SoulCycle spin classes.

Back when she starred on the soap All My Children, Kelly transformed lemons to lemonade whenever she received vicious, fat-shaming hate mail from fans.

The mother-of-three said: 'I feel like as long as you take ownership over your own flaws, it doesn’t hurt if someone else points them out.'

And with age comes more extensive medical examinations as Ripa discovered after has last mammogram for a life-insurance screening.

Kelly joked: 'I will say that it was the longest breast exam I’ve ever had. I was just like, "C'mon. I’m an A cup! This cannot go on this long!"'

And despite the bright designer duds she sports on her morning talk show, Ripa prides herself on her fuss-free style, which helps make her disappear in the Manhattan streets.

'I can walk out to the street and never be noticed. It’s my superpower: I’m invisible. I just look very normal and totally unremarkable,' the soap star said.

'Normally I’m in the same outfit every day, black jeans and a T-shirt—actually, this T-shirt, so I didn’t dress up that much. Sometimes I wear heels, because I happen to love heels, but if it’s freezing cold or boiling hot, it could easily be an Ugg boot or a flip-flop.'

The 64-inch-tall talk show host also opened up about her impressive 16-year marriage with Latin heartthrob Mark Consuelos.

'I actually call [Mark] Desi, because the thing about Desi was that as much attention as Lucy got, Desi was always in charge,' Kelly said
referring to her 41-year-old Spanish-born beau.

The loved-up pair will sometimes have a part-time nanny watch their brood as they enjoy double dates with fellow celebrity couple Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld.

Blending in the crowd: The mother-of-three maintains her super-slim frame thanks to frequent SoulCycle spin classes

'I was drawn to Mark because he was positively an alpha male, and I didn’t think I would be drawn to that. But I just worship him. He makes me feel very safe,' said Ripa.

Kelly and Mark reside in New York's Soho neighbourhood with their three children - 15-year-old Michael, 11-year-old Lola, and Joaquin, who turns 10 next month.

Last year, the bubbly blonde was dubbed one of the most powerful people in media by The Hollywood Reporter.

But no matter how many accolades the former high school cheerleader receives, she still feels like a dork.

'I think that’s why people get me,' said the self-deprecating star.

'I would have styled my hair for 17 hours and it would still look very much like a Westminster show-dog. No matter how much I try to cool myself up, it’s never going to happen for me. But, like, am I dying to be cool? Yes, I’m dying to be.'

She's only 42? I thought she was at least 45.
lovepollution 18th-Jan-2013 03:30 am (UTC)
ikr, considering the Botox and all, she's not looking great.
judgmental 18th-Jan-2013 04:05 am (UTC)
should ask her money back tbh
kidviciousdonna 18th-Jan-2013 04:17 am (UTC)
Botox can't fix not having any fat in your face. It makes you youthful
oceanhue 18th-Jan-2013 03:35 am (UTC)

slut_talk 18th-Jan-2013 03:14 am (UTC)
God I wish I could afford SoulCycle. I've always wanted to go but never will I ever have $30 for one class. Anybody know of any reasonable spinning classes in NYC??

Edited at 2013-01-18 03:14 am (UTC)
tuggernuts 18th-Jan-2013 03:21 am (UTC)
yeah

join a gym and go to their spin classes
shahoney 18th-Jan-2013 04:48 am (UTC)
i'm... i'm... i'm coming.

/fapping to your icon tbh/
deegeeme 18th-Jan-2013 03:29 am (UTC)
I think they're like 36 bucks per class! So insane. I went once just to try it and wasn't all that. Flywheel is also expensive but I've heard it's good.
beatlesluv 18th-Jan-2013 03:52 am (UTC)
Seconding the in gym spinning classes
tadashee 18th-Jan-2013 03:52 am (UTC)
i dont know about NYC's barry's boot camp, but I got 13 dollar classes on sale recently. They may have student ID discounts, if you are a student. But when I was at 24- i really liked their spinning classes.

$30? Ouch. I go to a place that charges $10 to $13 per class but I'm in San Diego.
luvlorn 18th-Jan-2013 07:00 am (UTC)
Buy a real bike and get some fresh air :) (might wanna wait til spring in NY though).
cpb1220 18th-Jan-2013 11:55 am (UTC)
Seriously. There's a reason SoulCycle classes are full of celebs and trust fund kids.
sixseventytwo 18th-Jan-2013 08:42 pm (UTC)
What is the difference between Soul Cycle and regular spinning classes? idgi
sergeantquakers 19th-Jan-2013 03:05 am (UTC)
Same. I plan on trying it because my Chinese Yoga class ended and I want a new, fun workout but I cannot justify spending $32 for the class + $3 shoe rental + water every week when I have a gym available to me for free. Guh.
squishinator 18th-Jan-2013 03:15 am (UTC)
at least she doesn't over do it. Still looks human and such. if i could afford it when im older, i dont think i'd be opposed to the idea of a little botox now and then. its when 20somethings are getting it that i find problematic.
saikaro_x 18th-Jan-2013 03:20 am (UTC)
ia. as long as cosmetic surgery doesn't completely change your appearance or make you look non-human (see: heidi montag), i don't think there's anything wrong with it.
6pennylane 18th-Jan-2013 06:26 pm (UTC)
agreed. one of my friends started getting it at 27 and i told her that a) she didn't need it and b) when she actually does, it's not going to be as effective, and she will need more thus making it more expensive.
arielcharming 18th-Jan-2013 03:16 am (UTC)
OMG a celeb uses botox. Everyone cheats at everything!
mammary_glands 18th-Jan-2013 03:17 am (UTC)
armpits?? pero why? sweating? really?
butt_or_skotch 18th-Jan-2013 03:20 am (UTC)
I've heard about it before. It's not new, but I haven't really heard about how well it works for people. It's usually for extreme cases of sweating when normal anti-perspirants don't really work.

Edited at 2013-01-18 03:22 am (UTC)
missmoelove3 18th-Jan-2013 03:21 am (UTC)
i've never heard of it but I'd really love to try it if it works.
megnla 18th-Jan-2013 04:35 pm (UTC)
I do it and it works amazing
tuggernuts 18th-Jan-2013 03:22 am (UTC)
i know people that do it

it works
ekrelly 18th-Jan-2013 03:32 am (UTC)
People with hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) sometimes get botox injections because of it.
ectypes 18th-Jan-2013 03:32 am (UTC)
probably so she doesn't get sweat stains while shooting
highflyer8 18th-Jan-2013 03:35 am (UTC)
I've only heard about it for awards shows and events.
thelovehater 18th-Jan-2013 03:39 am (UTC)
if you sweat excessively it will fix it. I know people who swear by it.
hoot 18th-Jan-2013 03:45 am (UTC)
When I did ballet a lot of the girls I danced with got it done.
beatlesluv 18th-Jan-2013 03:53 am (UTC)
It helps people who have too much activity in the sweat glands, i think it blocks it....
where_i_begin 18th-Jan-2013 01:45 pm (UTC)
I've had it, it's amazing.
buffy_usa 18th-Jan-2013 06:34 pm (UTC)
well she may not have an overactive biology issue but if she's in tv and under those hot lights all the time maybe that exacerbates it and she's conscious of being smelly or having stains on couture while she's filming the show
haru_69 18th-Jan-2013 09:18 pm (UTC)

expromqueen 18th-Jan-2013 04:00 am (UTC)
me, too. when i was younger my armpit sweating was out of control. ideky, like my pits would sweat even when i was not being active or when i was cold. not even the 9 dollar deodorant helped lol
mjspice 18th-Jan-2013 11:53 am (UTC)
Yeah at least for special occasions.
hershelwalker 18th-Jan-2013 03:22 am (UTC)
it's a pretty common procedure now

Does botox in your armpits really work for sweating?
diosabellissima 18th-Jan-2013 03:19 am (UTC)
Yeah, my friend's boyfriend is a surgeon and he said it does work. However, all it does is make you stop sweating there (duh). . . so. . . that sweat will just come out elsewhere. A friend did it and ended up with the sweatiest crotch of all time.

Yes. There was a cheerleader who went to my school had had her pits done for her birthday so she wouldn't sweat on her uniform, and she passed out regularly from not being able to sweat properly. They called her Death Valley (her last name was Valley).
distant_lines 18th-Jan-2013 04:29 am (UTC)
I feel a little weird for this, but I kind of love my sweat. I should say, I really only sweat when I workout. So, for me, it's a sign that I'm doing something and pushing my body. I see it like a badge of honor when I walk out of a class with a shirt drenched. I then immediately go shower it all away though.
where_i_begin 18th-Jan-2013 01:46 pm (UTC)
Yes, I've had it.

effervescent 18th-Jan-2013 03:50 am (UTC)
+1 I love that stuff. I was so happy I could have cried when I tried it and realised it worked.
thekidwholived 18th-Jan-2013 03:22 am (UTC)
I am too, but I've started using this and it is a godsend. I can lift my arms up in public now. It's important to get this roll-on kind and not the regular kind. Also, you put it on at night before bed.
saintssin 18th-Jan-2013 03:24 am (UTC)
I never had that problem there.

Chest sweat seems to be my thing.
ericasays 18th-Jan-2013 03:25 am (UTC)
dry idea changed my life, no joke.
keef_riffhards 18th-Jan-2013 03:54 am (UTC)
Have you seen your doctor about it? Tell your doctor about it and he/she will most likely write you a prescription for Hypercare. It's an anti-perspirant that will stop your sweating. It worked well for me, although I used too much and ran out of it too soon (oops), lol.
sabine_strohem 18th-Jan-2013 05:35 am (UTC)
I use Drysol on my hands a few times a week and it works great. I take ballet classes and sweat a lot but my hands are fine. sweaty hands have always been an embarrassing issue but i never have that problem anymore. it does, however, make my hands crack and peel. you can also use it on your armpits and feet.

I'm not sure if they sell it in the US (I live in Canada) You might need a prescription, but it's definitely worth a try.
lloydsgurl 18th-Jan-2013 03:19 am (UTC)
well her plastic surgeon does good work
scarletfbl 18th-Jan-2013 03:19 am (UTC)
I would totally use Botox on my pits. It's embarrassing how much I sweat, and I ruin so many nice shirts from the sweat stains. :/ /tmi
shinebrighter 18th-Jan-2013 03:20 am (UTC)
certain dri bb! it's the best.
scarletfbl 18th-Jan-2013 03:27 am (UTC)
omg, I totally forgot this existed. I really need to try this out. It really works, even though it's a roll on? Roll ons and gels/clear solids usually do squat for me.
chuk_is_dazzled 18th-Jan-2013 03:22 am (UTC)
oh lawd me too, so embarrassing, i would totally botox
mankini 18th-Jan-2013 03:25 pm (UTC)
I'm all over the post with this, but if you can, go to a dermatologist and get robinul forte (different under a generic name, ofc). It changed my life.
ilouboutin 18th-Jan-2013 03:19 am (UTC)
AMC was everything to my childhood during summer break. i had dolls named hailey and dixie. how dreadful.
shinebrighter 18th-Jan-2013 03:19 am (UTC)
she looks sooo skinny on TV. i would imagine she looks emaciated in real life.
aubade_saudade 18th-Jan-2013 03:19 am (UTC)
Aren't we supposed to sweat?

If it doesn't come out of yr arm pits where does it go?

How do you human body. Lemme google this
saikaro_x 18th-Jan-2013 03:22 am (UTC)
apparently from comments above the body will sweat it out other places, like your crotch!!!
aubade_saudade 18th-Jan-2013 03:23 am (UTC)
Omg Fergie nooooee
brokenseas 18th-Jan-2013 03:29 am (UTC)
Oh helll no.
hershelwalker 18th-Jan-2013 03:27 am (UTC)
for some reason my body doesn't produce very much sweat, and I get REALLY overheated as a result. my skin gets super red and hot to the touch and I get dehydrated/dizzy/etc. very easily. it sucks.
milkradio 18th-Jan-2013 06:26 am (UTC)
When I was doing Insanity for 60 days straight, I would frequently get in plank on the ground and be like "Wait, your LEGS can sweat???" because honestly I was drenched all over. Seriously, I had no idea my fucking shins could sweat, but I guess I'd never ever worked out quite that hard lol.
