FOOTBALL CATFISH SAGA CONTINUES. NOTRE DAME TEAMMATE: MANTI TE'O IS "A LIAR AND VERY GOOD ACTOR"

An anonymous Notre Dame teammate of Te’o spoke to Jackie Peppers of Pepperonsports.com who has formerly worked for ESPN, Fox Sports, The NFL Network is currently freelancing for Yahoo Sports.

The teammate shed some light on what was really going on between Te’o and his Fake Dead Cancer Girlfriend.

Here is what he had to say:
LOLCollapse )
IMO, i think he was in on it and the only people who got catfished was the national media not te'o

This clusterfuck...
handsdowntoo 17th-Jan-2013 04:12 am (UTC)
The news here is claiming he only ever talked to her on the phone and he was duped by vicious people who conspired against him. I hope he doesn't get even MORE sympathy when its so clear he was in on it.
deadendqueen16 17th-Jan-2013 04:13 am (UTC)
This is so bizarre and delicious.
so_chic_doll 17th-Jan-2013 04:14 am (UTC)
Seth Meyers ‏@sethmeyers21

These Te'o jokes are all very funny but let's all try and remember that a person who never existed is dead.
homicidalslayer 17th-Jan-2013 04:20 am (UTC)
If only he was as funny writing sketches as he is on twitter.
arisingphoenix 17th-Jan-2013 04:14 am (UTC)
Lol lbr this is ND getting ahead of the negative spin by tossing him under the bus. I mean I think damn well he knew and was in on it. The only question is at what point and why. He was a fool if he thought the school was going to have his back if this went negative.
handsdowntoo 17th-Jan-2013 04:16 am (UTC)
Why would the school protect an outgoing player that lied about personal life BS though? I don't really see that as their place but publicly they are doing news conferences like he's Mother Theresa who was fooled by the devil.
emologues 17th-Jan-2013 04:17 am (UTC)
lmfao mte
laurie_springs 17th-Jan-2013 04:19 am (UTC)
Covering their own asses b/c lbr this can be spun several ways, whatever the truth is.

This way, by defending him, if it turns out he was in on it they end up looking like the victims.
arisingphoenix 17th-Jan-2013 04:41 am (UTC)
like laurie says but also it's a strategic move. He was basically the face of the program if they could have kept the victim narrative they aren't going to throw him under the bus. They're going to save face because they were involved in pushing this story to the media, his coach gave him a game ball for her. They look just as foolish. Unless the victim narrative works then everyone is safe. Also unless he's already signed with outside PR (Which since the actual winner of Heisman this year has his PR handled by the school still), the school is also handling this kid's PR. which means he probably trusted them when they said release the I'm a victim and so embarrassed statement. Full well knowing they also have another plan which is to let it play like this. If anyone thinks any ND player talked to the media without the school knowing..that's crazy. He may be "anonymous" but the school knows exactly who talked and was ok with it.

laurie_springs 17th-Jan-2013 04:18 am (UTC)
Well it's not unheard of for star athletes to feel entitled to adoration by everyone including the massive machine under which they are a simple cog in.
amore 17th-Jan-2013 04:15 am (UTC)
way to keep your name in the press before the draft. should have held out a little longer though.
emologues 17th-Jan-2013 04:17 am (UTC)
this is insanity. if he was going for sympathy in the media, why invent and then kill off your girlfriend? why not milk your grandmother's death since she actually existed? i understand that's disgusting but lbr i doubt this guy is a shining beacon of morality anyway...

notre dame is shady as fuck when it comes to football, how many things have they tried to cover up? the two rapes, the poor kid who had the tower fall on him, now claiming te'o is an innocent bystander? like come on.
ediesedgwick 17th-Jan-2013 04:33 am (UTC)
Grandma dying 4 days before a game isn't that attention-grabbing
missjersey 17th-Jan-2013 04:18 am (UTC)

Seriously though I have no idea what this scandal is.

Not hot.

ch33rylips 17th-Jan-2013 04:18 am (UTC)
I'm really trying to understand how he thought this shit was going to end. I mean he had to have known somebody in the media was gonna look into his girlfriend's life/family/accident/cancer.......
mydogfred 17th-Jan-2013 04:24 am (UTC)
and that Notre Dame is claiming he was going to release a statement next week like ummmmmm

they were PRAYING it would stay buried.
homicidalslayer 17th-Jan-2013 04:19 am (UTC)
Pretty Little Liars should hire him as a writer, tbh.

spiderkelly 17th-Jan-2013 04:24 am (UTC)
okay. this just sounds so...

"Q. How hard was it being focused on football but knowing that there is a bigger picture

Manti Te'o: Yeah, it was definitely hard. That has to be the hardest thing that I've had to do so far; to be able to operate, and to be able to try to continue with my daily routine, but knowing that I just lost two women that I truly loved. That was the hardest thing. And the other hardest thing was my girlfriend's service was the day of Michigan's game. And I remember when I found out I knew when they were going to close the casket and all that stuff, and it was during walk thru. And I remember I asked Coach Diaco, "Coach, what time is it?" And he said, "It's 12:01." And that would be 9:00, 9:01, California time and 9:00 is when they closed the casket for my girlfriend, so I had a moment then. But I've never felt so strong; especially strong, and I never I could never thank the student body and the fans around the world for their all love and all their prayers and support. I truly felt all of that and it's helped me to get through these past three weeks and I'm truly grateful and I'm truly humbled, and I said I can't thank them enough."
hahahey 17th-Jan-2013 04:37 am (UTC)
this is seriously so weird
arisingphoenix 17th-Jan-2013 04:48 am (UTC)
That's one of those things were it's like how can you see interviews and shit like this and have it not seem like "this dude, at some point in time full well was in on it".
spiderkelly 17th-Jan-2013 05:12 am (UTC)
yep these kinds of interviews are just so ott and weird it's hard to believe in retrospect. there's something def off about this kid. and maybe that's why he was able to be catfished while being the ultimate bmoc at a football mad school? or maybe it's bc he's an attention whoring liar? idk...
michelleantonia 17th-Jan-2013 10:00 am (UTC)
I just don't get how someone could fake it like that though. That's one Oscar winning performance if it's fake. He should be acting instead of playing football lol
xcollsangelx 17th-Jan-2013 06:31 am (UTC)
Oh god.

shinebrighter 17th-Jan-2013 04:26 am (UTC)
i think his friend and some girl really did catfish him at first but he totally blew it out of proportion. plus you don't date someone with cancer for months and not try to go see them. i think he had to have known before the season started that she was fake.
shinebrighter 17th-Jan-2013 04:28 am (UTC)
also, this girl's picture was on tons of national news shows and in a segment of pretty much every ND game. it's almost unbelievable to me that NO ONE would see the girl's picture that was being used and tell her much earlier in the season.
d00ditsemily 17th-Jan-2013 04:38 am (UTC)
She lived in AZ I think. She may not know anyone that watches ND games.
michelleantonia 17th-Jan-2013 09:58 am (UTC)
but the internet tho. logically, it would've gotten back to her SOMEHOW
_beka 17th-Jan-2013 04:29 am (UTC)
I haven't heard about this, so i'm completely confused about what is going on.

but it seems like a clusterfuck.
