ohmygod. i'm so excited for this. (even though all my hopes were dashed when shonda pulled some grey's anatomy realness with fitz waking up from his coma.)
The dynamic between Fitz, Mellie and Olivia is so weird.. like, Mellie knows Fitz and Olivia are getting it on and she pretty much just lets it happen. I know she's power-hungry and is willing to do whatever to stay the First Lady (and more) but how could you just tolerate your husband making goo-goo eyes at his mistress right in front of you? It's sad :\
mellie is so fascinating. she's a mess of contradictions (and kind of a mess in general) but the actress brings it. i like olitz for the chemistry factor but as standalone characters go its mellie>>>>olivia>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>fitz tbh
Well she's stuck in the marriage whether she wants to be or not. I think she does care about Fitz to a certain degree and best case scenario would be them having an amazing, loving relationship, but they're at worst case scenario where he's essentially moved on emotionally to Olivia. Despite how either of them feel they still have to play happy couple for the country so she has no choice but to sit there and let whatever happens with him and olivia happen, happen. It's a political marriage first. She's tried pushing her out, threatening him, etc. She's pretty much powerless in that sense.
I do wish she'd get someone on the side that makes her happy though, she deserves better.
Having the romantic attention of your spouse isn't the number one priority for a lot of people. Especially someone like Mellie who has high career aspirations. I can personally imagine her being more irritated at the idea that she has to play dumb about the affair (and make herself seem like she's oblivious) rather than the reality of her husband being involved with Olivia. Especially since Olivia's skills are directly contributing to Mellie's career goals.
ia. i feel like she actually does really care for/love fitz. i know that she's power-hungry, blah blah blah, but she absolutely wants what's best for him too. it IS sad, tbh. i wish she had a man on the side or someone that seems like they actually like her. fitz treats her like garbage.
I feel like there are a lot of real life couples like this. Where the husband/wife knows the other is cheating but keeps on playing the game....
