i think homeowner's associations sound so ridiculous. my sister just moved to a suburb in california and their front yard had a bed of cedar chips that wasn't properly installed so it kept sprouting fungi and they ripped it all up and laid down grass seeds instead. and they got threatened with a fine for not getting HOA approval first.
