Holly Madison in Doghouse with Homeowners Association

holly-madison-300
Holly Madison is having a little trouble getting her neighbors to think pink

The forme Playboy in-up – and curren mom-to-be  is moving out of her home in the Rancho Circle neighborhood of Las Vegas after repeated complaints from the homeowners association over her pink doghouse, which is human-sized and built to accommodate he three pups, Louis, Napoleon and Josephine

"When I went over it with my contractor, he consulted the HOA on all their restrictions and whatnot," sh tol Las Vegas Weekly. "He told me it has to match the architecture of the house, so I did that with the roof because … it's possible you could see the roof from the street, but you can't see any of it from the street, actually."

In addition, the structure's creative color has also been a point of conflict for the association, which has repeatedly fined the star over it – not that Madison's taking their actions lying down

"It's a hundred dollars a month," she said. "I haven't been paying it. I just keep sending them nasty letters."

Luckily for Madison, when the doghouse was constructed, it was designed to be movable

"Yes, I'm going to bring it," she replied when asked if it will accompany her to her newest home.

The dogs in my street are a fucking pain in the ass; specially one across the street that used to shit in front of my house.
the_landlady 16th-Jan-2013 03:28 pm (UTC)
ONTDers, have you ever had pet issues with people who live next to you

The townhouse next to me has a beagle mix that NEVER STOPS BARKING. What makes it even worst is that he will put it outside when he's at work so it's an even bigger pain in the ass. Especially when I'm a student trying to study at home.

I love animals, but I'm tempted to steal it from his backyard and find it a new home.
h0tfuss 16th-Jan-2013 03:34 pm (UTC)
Call the police and file a noise complaint. Say you work nights/sleep during the day and have a baby. Constant barking lowers a neighborhood's property values.
bralesss 16th-Jan-2013 03:50 pm (UTC)
this
the_landlady 16th-Jan-2013 04:02 pm (UTC)
Will do. Thanks, bb!
ericasays 16th-Jan-2013 03:45 pm (UTC)
my neighbor leaves his basset hound out in the morning and he does that horrible hound signing all fucking morning long.

oh, and he plays on the bongos on his porch at night. he's an ace neighbor.
ladyvoldything 16th-Jan-2013 04:01 pm (UTC)
thirding the noise complaint thing
anus 16th-Jan-2013 04:06 pm (UTC)
My neighbors have an Australian shepherd that never stops barking. It howls like a beagle it's so damn annoying. Plus they have had it off a leash multiple times and it's come at my dogs. The owner will SLOWLY walk over all like LOL BOOMER GET BACK HERE
d00ditsemily 16th-Jan-2013 04:09 pm (UTC)
Does the dog have shelter in the yard? The dog has to have an actual place of shelter in the back too or it's illegal (at least where I live)
sandrajane 16th-Jan-2013 04:32 pm (UTC)
He leaves it outside for hours? Does he provide proper shelter for his dog? Because if he doesn't, he can be fined. This is the law in my county:

Q. What does an owner have to provide if a dog is kept outside?

Anne Arundel County law requires that at dog kept outdoors is provided with food and water daily. A shelter which could be a doghouse must be provided as well. The shelter must have four sides one of which must have a door. The shelter must have a roof, floor and bedding. The shelter must be adequate in size as to allow the dog to stand up, lie down, and turn around without touching the sides.

You should look that up, see if where you live has similar laws.

mai_shiranui 16th-Jan-2013 04:45 pm (UTC)
That is so fucking annoying.

I had a neighbour that used to do that. She would put her dogs on the balcony whenever she was out and one of them would go apeshit whenever he'd see someone walking past with a dog.
williammiller 18th-Jan-2013 11:46 pm (UTC)
Definitely file a complaint.
h0tfuss 16th-Jan-2013 03:28 pm (UTC)
Did you guys see Teen Mom this week? Chelsea's dog was killed by her neighbor's dog.
_______awshucks 16th-Jan-2013 03:35 pm (UTC)
omg :( I don't even know what I would do
h0tfuss 16th-Jan-2013 03:41 pm (UTC)
I won't say it was her fault (obviously the neighbors probably know that their dog is dangerous), but she's one of those dumbasses who just let her dogs out to go to the bathroom wherever they wanted and then she always had trouble rounding them up and getting them back inside. The cops couldn't help her because she violated leash laws. Hopefully she learned her lesson. The preview for the next episode shows that she's moving, which is the best thing for the mother of a toddler.
bellyroomfan 16th-Jan-2013 03:52 pm (UTC)
that is terrible. this is why we have leash laws! i got in an argument with this guy at my dog park, he was trying to get sympathy from me for an off leash fine and i was like "bitch please, that shit is dangerous"
platinumpinup 16th-Jan-2013 04:19 pm (UTC)
What kind of dog was it again? That bitch makes me rage, having her dad pay for everything of hers, and taking so many years to get her G.E.D.
karis_azura 16th-Jan-2013 03:29 pm (UTC)
Yep, my neighbors have a male cat that they let outside all the time. I wouldn't mind so much except that he isn't neutered and I'm sick and tired of coming home to find him getting his groove on with random cats in our yards, leading to them having kittens. I've discussed it with them and they basically said if I wanted him neutered, I could pay for it myself....douchebags.
the_landlady 16th-Jan-2013 03:32 pm (UTC)
Where do you live? Most shelters have a stray cat policy where you can bring it in and they will spay/neuter for around $20. If you have Paypal, I'd be happy to foot the bill because lord knows the world doesn't need that cat getting around any more than he already has.
karis_azura 16th-Jan-2013 03:39 pm (UTC)
You are so awesome! We've got the money to pay for it and I checked and its relatively cheap to get him snipped but the problem now is catching him. We bought a cat trap and caught another cat, a female ~ I took her to the pound and thankfully she was already spaid and was chipped, we called and her family had been looking for her so that was a happy ending. STill haven't caught mr. don juan romeo though lol
d00ditsemily 16th-Jan-2013 04:10 pm (UTC)
I would be willing to spilt the bill with you.
interpol15 16th-Jan-2013 03:41 pm (UTC)
Ugh, what a dick! I have cats, and they go outside, but they're all neutered. FFS dude, it's not that expensive and as a pet owner it's his damn responsibility!
bluecupxxx 16th-Jan-2013 04:57 pm (UTC)
As someone suffering through a stray cat problem I feel you. It's the worst.
akillarian 16th-Jan-2013 11:51 pm (UTC)
There are so many stray cats around my neighbourhood because people don't bother to neutered their pets. Some nights I can hear the cats mewling/hissing? because they are in heat or something.
fromyourashes 16th-Jan-2013 03:35 pm (UTC)
My next door neighbors have dogs that bark ALL. DAY. LONG. We live in townhouses and I work from home and they bark all. fucking. day. long. They are currently barking. This doesn't stress me out or annoy me at all.

fromyourashes 21st-Jan-2013 12:01 pm (UTC)
Our kids share a bus stop and I have to see her twice a day, so nope. I've tried dropping hints big as anvils to no avail. IDK, I think I'm just going to buy a dog whistle and blow it late at night.
hotcement 16th-Jan-2013 03:39 pm (UTC)
i think homeowner's associations sound so ridiculous. my sister just moved to a suburb in california and their front yard had a bed of cedar chips that wasn't properly installed so it kept sprouting fungi and they ripped it all up and laid down grass seeds instead. and they got threatened with a fine for not getting HOA approval first.
thesilverymoon 16th-Jan-2013 03:46 pm (UTC)
Homeowners associations piss me off. Some of them aren't bad, but when we were moving there was one that was like "NO PETS MAY EVER BE OUTSIDE" and I just couldn't begin to comprehend actually moving there. I mean, maybe if you have a cat that's okay, but what about people with dogs? You can't leave a lab cooped up inside all day.
Plus, I want to be able to paint my house whatever color I want, plant whatever plants I want, and generally do my own thing. I'm okay with my neighbors doing that too. As long a they aren't dealing drugs or throwing loud parties or generally being loud assholes, I couldn't give a fuck what their property looks like.
hotcement 16th-Jan-2013 03:53 pm (UTC)
re: the second bit: EXACTLY!!!
metalheavy 17th-Jan-2013 10:26 am (UTC)
I'm okay with my neighbors doing that too.

Exactly, I don't understand the people who get all pissy because their neighbor has some tacky lawn ornament. Just don't look at it.
kriskross 16th-Jan-2013 03:49 pm (UTC)
HOAs seriously seem like the worst. My parents retired last year and moved to a suburb with an HOA that has been giving them nothing but problems. The board just passed a rule saying that no one can park in front of their own house, on the street or in their driveway. So all cars must be in the garage at all times. So many people are shitting bricks, omg.
bellyroomfan 16th-Jan-2013 03:56 pm (UTC)
iawtc! i will never move somewhere with an hoa. give people a little power over others and soon they go crazy. no one will dictate to me what color my house can be, etc.
littlepunkryo 16th-Jan-2013 04:39 pm (UTC)
They're seriously ridiculous. Ours didn't used to be bad but now it is - you can't have your side gate open for ANY reason at all (even if you're moving stuff out of your house), you can't park on the street or have your tires on the dirt when you park in the driveway, you can't plant grass, your trees can't be hanging over the sidewalk at all, even if the branches are high up as hell...it's always something with them. One of our tiny upper windows in our bedroom closet actually shines light through the closet onto a mirror and that kicks it into the bedroom RIGHT where the bed is. It wakes us up so we covered it and we even got a letter about that not being allowed!

Edited at 2013-01-16 04:40 pm (UTC)
nicholasdee 16th-Jan-2013 04:59 pm (UTC)
they are ridiculous, but when you choose to live somewhere that has one, you are accepting their terms and allowing them to make those decisions
karis_azura 16th-Jan-2013 05:07 pm (UTC)
Our hoa left us a note on our mailbox because we had too many vehicles parked in our driveway. My mum had surgery and I was taking care of her is why....I put a note on my mailbox that they needed to seriously stfd, that when my mom recovered, our driveway would be minus a car. Granted, we *did* agree to move there and thus have to follow the rules but it still got under my skin and I was being stubborn.
ohkkrista 16th-Jan-2013 05:13 pm (UTC)
They can be.. BUT they do keep things nice and organized. All the homes in my community look nice and well taken care of because of the HOA. I've been to plenty of communities where people leave their trash outside, furniture on the lawns, etc. Looks ridiculous.
williammiller 18th-Jan-2013 11:46 pm (UTC)
They really are.

My parents had to get permission to put a shed in their backyard. We had to get permission from the neighbors on each side of us and the one we share a backyard with (who we don't like.) The neighbors we don't like waited for. fucking. ever. to approve the building. If they would have said no or protested it, then we would have been fucked.
thesilverymoon 16th-Jan-2013 03:42 pm (UTC)
The dog next door to me is left outside all damn day and will bark for hours. It drives me up the wall because the owner is home and can hear it and god knows we've all complained but he still does nothing. It's a huge dog and needs to let its energy out somehow but the owner refuses to take it for walks or play with it or even take it to training. We've even suggested to the owners like "if you can't take care of it maybe give it someone who can?" and they're like "oh, but it's our BABYYYYY". Well if you care about it so damn much TAKE CARE OF IT.
Oh, and our neighbors across the street leave their dogs out in front of their house all day. There's an electric fence so they don't run away, but the dogs still sit there and just bark and bark. Whenever someone walks by they'll run at them in a really menacing manner. I'm not scared since I know there's a fence, but I can't walk my dog by them because they'll run like they're going to attack her and it terrifies her. We've spoken to those neighbors about it and they give absolutely zero fucks. It's just another point on a long list of reasons of why I hate those neighbors.
shinebrightest 16th-Jan-2013 03:46 pm (UTC)
My neighbour works for the humane society and her whole garage is filled with cages for injured squirrels. We have such an overabundance of squirrels, I doubt she releases them "in the wild" like she says she does.
jackiemust_die 16th-Jan-2013 03:54 pm (UTC)
do you think she watches that animal hoarding show on animal planet?
mankini 16th-Jan-2013 06:46 pm (UTC)
Aww I love squirrels. There's nothing like hand-feeding a baby.
williammiller 21st-Jan-2013 08:19 am (UTC)
Yikes :/ My sister and her family found an injured squirrel and kind of nursed it back to health. They released it. I think it still comes by every now and then to get peanuts.
nobodynomore 16th-Jan-2013 03:49 pm (UTC)
Yes. On both sides, our neighbors have multiple dogs. One side, they're fine. Yeah, they bark at our dog, but its fine, its a dog thing. On the other side, they bark ALL DAY LONG, coupled with the teens working on a car and revving it all day, and them screaming at the dogs...

The old bastard across the street, his dogs always get out. They're sweet, so we take them in for a while and then take them back over. The next time the little chihuahua gets out, I'm keeping her. Fuck that guy. Fix your fence.
williammiller 21st-Jan-2013 08:19 am (UTC)
Can you call the police and file a complaint?
nobodynomore 21st-Jan-2013 04:38 pm (UTC)
We have before. We've even talked to them about the revving, because we have a 2 year old, who I'd like to take naps. We are only renting this house, so hopefully we find a place to move by the summer (although moving in summer is terrible)
bralesss 16th-Jan-2013 03:51 pm (UTC)
thank fuck my closest neighbors with pets just have horses lol. i can't deal with constant barking ugh
gee 16th-Jan-2013 03:52 pm (UTC)
Growing up, the first house I lived in was down the street from these people who had so many stray cats. Of course none of them were ever fixed, so 99% of our pet cats were strays from them lol. Some of them we took care of but never got the chance to take in since they disappeared/were killed :( I think we ended up with 4 cats over time that way (once of which also had kittens at one point that we found homes for). Still have one of them!

However the next house we moved to, our neighbors had an indoor/outdoor cat that would climb the fence sometimes and visit. He was gorg and I enjoyed him. Alas, he too was killed, hit by a car I think. THIS IS WHY OUTDOOR PETS ARE NEVER A GOOD IDEA.

anchors_oceans 16th-Jan-2013 03:56 pm (UTC)
my boyfriend's cat is an outdoor cat and i'm like NOPE. NEVER. NEVER KEEPING AN ANIMAL OUTSIDE. first, his cat has front claws so it hurts. second, she's always getting fleas, even after a million baths and combing, because she's outside every day. and third, i can't deal with an animal not coming home. i get terrified when my dog runs into the woods when we're playing in the backyard.
gee 16th-Jan-2013 04:01 pm (UTC)
Ugh, an animal going missing is just the worst. One of our cats got out and I was in constant terror mode for days until she showed back up, wondering if I should be out looking for her every moment.

For the past year+ i've been taking care of a feral, and she drives me crazy cause she will never be an indoor cat. I just want to bring her in at nights, esp during the winter, but when she is inside she cries endlessly and is unhappy. I worry all the time about the cold, cars, even asshole teenagers since there is a middle school across the street. Damn cat!!
thesilverymoon 16th-Jan-2013 04:06 pm (UTC)
We live in an area with coyotes and mountain lions. So many of my friends have had their indoor/outdoor cats mauled to death, it blows my mind that they still let their cats outside.
If I ever had a cat, it would be indoors 90% of the time, the other 10% would be me outside playing with it so that it couldn't escape.
theciz 16th-Jan-2013 05:13 pm (UTC)
Lol I never understand why people are so against outdoor cats. I mean, as long as they're fixed (and practically all the pet cats are), it's fine. It's just the norm in my area, actually people think it's mean not to let the cats out and do cat stuff. Never until the internet did I hear about this indoor cat thing.

All my sister's cat does outside is sit in the bushes opposite their door and chase leaves anyway.
anchors_oceans 16th-Jan-2013 03:53 pm (UTC)
there was a dog that used to wander around my neighborhood in ALL weather and all times of the day. rain, snow, wind, at night, the dog was just walking around on the streets. besides the fact that my heart breaks for any animal outside in that kind of weather (personally, my pup sits next to me on the couch next to the fireplace) but we have lots of windy roads and i've almost hit the dog loads of times. this was going on for years. finally i tracked down the owners, my neighbors, and brought the dog back. i said, "do you know that your dog is getting out of the yard?" and they were like, "he's not fenced in. we just let him walk around." i asked why and they said because the kids wanted a dog but they were all allergic so they keep him outside. i told them if i saw the dog outside again, i was going to take him home and keep him (he's the sweetest black lab) because there's no way that any animal should be treated that way, especially if they're outside because YOU'RE ALL FUCKING ALLERGIC. i never saw the dog outside again.

fuck those people. a pet is a responsibility and (hopefully) a member of your family. you don't let your dog walk around in a fucking snow storm.
gee 16th-Jan-2013 03:55 pm (UTC)
I don't understand people like that at all. It's like some folks think having a pet is a right, or a must-have, even if they don't REALLY want one. It's just expected and then once you get it you can ignore it all you like. Makes me so mad.
vonlisbon 16th-Jan-2013 03:57 pm (UTC)
An ex of mine had neighbors who went through cats like Kleenex because they didn't want to keep animals indoors. They'd buy a cat, plop a food and water dish outside, and just let it roam around 24/7/365 until it would get eaten or hit by a car. Couple days later there'd be a new one. In the 4.5 years we dated they went through ohhh about seven cats. That I knew of. It was so fucking disgusting. In the winter we'd let the cats in our garage. Like they wouldn't even bring the cat indoors when it snowed.
anchors_oceans 16th-Jan-2013 04:01 pm (UTC)
it's a bit easier for my boyfriend because he's in the south of england, tons of houses close together, pretty much no traffic, no snow, not that cold, there's a cat flap so she can come inside the house whenever she wants, but i'm still not comfortable with it. happily, the cat is 15 and she's been doing it her whole life but i won't keep an animal outside. i put my foot down about it.

but that's so sad about not bringing it inside during snow. :(
bienenkiste 16th-Jan-2013 04:10 pm (UTC)
UGH what the fuck is wrong with people :(
bienenkiste 16th-Jan-2013 04:12 pm (UTC)
dumbass motherfucking people
few things anger me more than careless pet owners tbh
thesilverymoon 16th-Jan-2013 04:13 pm (UTC)
You're nicer than I am, I would have caught the dog and taken it straight to the humane society--shitty owners shouldn't get their dogs back.
williammiller 21st-Jan-2013 08:19 am (UTC)
I hate pet owners that leave their pets outside all day and night. Give it to a shelter or someone who can properly take care of it ffs.
vonlisbon 16th-Jan-2013 03:54 pm (UTC)
Ugh fuck HOAs, forreal. Like yeah most people don't want to live in a neighborhood full of garbage and abandoned-looking homes, but as long as it appears that someone is living there or at least regularly tending to the property, who gives a shit about a dog house or basketball goal or whatnot?
frenchverbs 16th-Jan-2013 03:54 pm (UTC)
Growing up, I had a neighbor with 3 huge dogs. OMG...they drove me crazy. They constantly escaped through the fence and chased my family. One nipped at me during a chase once. To this day, they are why I tense up when around strange dogs. My dad is amazing though because one afternoon while my brother and I were bicycling in our backyard, one of the dogs jumped over the fence and chased my brothers and I. We ran inside, hysterical, and my dad, a huge black dude, went to the basement, grabbed a shovel, went to my neighbor's front door, and was like, 'if your dogs keep fucking with my kids, I'm beating your ass with this damn shovel. Either keep them inside or erect a higher fence. The next time they try to attack my kids, I'm coming back with this shovel and you're going to pay then'. It was awesome. By the next week, my neighbor was having a new fence installed.
marywebgirl 16th-Jan-2013 06:07 pm (UTC)
Can your dad come over and yell at my dickbag neighbor please?
msamericandream 16th-Jan-2013 04:03 pm (UTC)
my neighbors have a vicious chihuahua that always escapes their yard and comes to the gate of my yard and riles my dog up and makes him start barking like at 3 in the morning sometimes, when my parents told our neighbors about it (not even in a complaining way, just in an 'omg your dog is a little trickster always escaping your yard' way) they told my mom that maybe we should teach our dog not to bark... i'm pretty sure if your dog is the one that keeps escaping, you need to better protect your yard
