The 16 Most Famous Kids in College Right Now

college

A new college semester is about to begin and that means that students are preparing to head back to school for the spring semester. But some students have to juggle a bit more than just classes and schoolwork.

We've found the 16 most famous kids in college this semester. These celebrities are pursuing their college degrees, juggling class and exams with the responsibilities of public life.

They're musicians, actors, models and athletes who somehow find a way to balance their college careers with their professional ones—an impressive feat for such young people.

They go to school all over America, from New York City's School of Visual Arts to California's University of Southern California.

We've listed them here in alphabetical order. Let us know who we missed!

Elizabeth Beisel

1
College: University of Florida

Year: Junior

Beisel won a silver medal in the 400-meter individual medley event in the 2012 London Olympics. Even though she is a college student, Beisel is a two-time Olympian: she competed in the 2008 Beiijing Olympics at the age of 15. Beisel is also the 2011 world champion in the 400 IM.

She is majoring in communications at the University of Florida.

Miranda Cosgrove

2
College: University of Southern California

Year: Freshman

This actress and singer-songwriter is best known for her role on Nickelodeon TV's iCarly, but she's also starred in several films, including most notably School of Rock.

Cosgrove said that she took a drawing class last semester, which she really enjoyed.

Justin Combs

3
College: University of California Los Angeles

Year: Freshman

The son of Sean "P. Diddy" or "Puff Daddy" Combs, Justin Combs graduated with a 3.75 GPA from New Rochelle Iona Prep, a top private school, and is attending UCLA —on a $54,000 football scholarship.

The son of a multi-millionaire, Combs faced a lot of criticism for accepting the scholarship, but the 5-foot-9, 170-pound defensive back defended his decision to accept the scholarship, tweeting that he "put that work in" and earned the scholarship.

Combs made his debut as a UCLA Bruin last semester.

Dakota Fanning

4
College: New York University

Year: Sophomore

This film actress, who has starred in the Twilight films,The Secret Life of Bees and The Runaways, is a sophomore at NYU.

Chester "Chet" Hanks (aka Chet Haze)

5
College: Northwestern University

Year: Senior

The son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson doesn't just rely on his parents' fame: he's trying to make a name for himself as a rapper/singer called "Chet Haze." Last year, Chet Haze dropped his first rap single called "White and Purple,” a Northwestern-themed remake of “Black and Yellow.” Since then, he's recorded several songs, including "Hollywood" and "Do It Better." He has evenperformed some songs on campus.

Georgia May Jagger

6
College: School of Visual Arts, New York City

Year: Junior

The daughter of Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall, Georgia May Jagger has already made a name for herself as a Rimmel London model. But that's not enough for the British beauty.

She wants to pursue photography; The Daily Mailreported that she has her sights set on becoming a wildlife photographer. She is a student at the New York's School Of Visual Arts, where she is studying photography, art and life drawing.

Sam Mikulak

7
School: University of Michigan, Ann Arbor

Year: Junior

Mikulak was Dalton's teammate on the U.S. men's gymnastics team. During the all-around team final, he competed in four events: floor exercise, pommel horse, vault and parallel bars. When he's not busy being an Olympian, Mikulak is a gymnast for the Wolverines.

Xi Mingze

8
School: Harvard University

Year: Junior

Xi Mingze is the daughter of China's Communist president Xi Jinping. It came out just recently that she is a student at Harvard, studying under a pseudonym.

Xi has kept a quiet profile at Harvard. Not much is known about her, but friends say that she is "a bookworm, very quiet and studious," according to the Mail.

Patrick Schwarzenegger

9
College: University of Southern California

Year: Freshman

The 18-year-old son of actor Arnold Schwarzenegger and activist Maria Shriver, Patrick is an actor, model, and a Freshman at USC. Like any normal college kid, his parents helped him move in to his dorm last semester.

Dylan and Cole Sprouse

10
College: New York University

Year: Juniors

These twin brothers first rose to fame in the Adam Sandler film Big Daddy. They've since starred in the Disney Channel's The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. The twins are juniors at NYU.

Emma Watson

11

College: Oxford University & Brown University

Year: Junior

Watson, who is most famous for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies, began her college career as a freshman at Brown University in 2009.

However, the pressure that comes with fame and rigorous studies caught up with her and she decided totransfer to Oxford University for her junior year. Watson is now back at Brown, where she plans to complete her undergraduate degree.

i fucked college up so bad. i went far away to an expensive school because i thought that's what you were supposed to do, then i pissed away 2 years by partying, not getting good grades and transferring. of course the credits didn't all transfer because i switch majors sophomore year. then i got preggo and had a babby so now i have to do everything part time. BUT luckily it clicked for me before it was too late and i repaired my GPA and i'll be done this summer :]

meanwhile my entire graduating class for the most part have graduated and gotten big kid jobs. fml
daydream11 15th-Jan-2013 08:58 pm (UTC)
You know what? I'm proud of you. Maybe you fucked up and your life isn't where you thought it'd be, but you also learned from it and you're going strong. :) That's amazing. Not too many people can do that. Congrats on your little one and your imminent graduation!
awkwardmumbles 15th-Jan-2013 09:07 pm (UTC)
thanks a lot! that means a lot for an internet stranger to recognize that. its hard cause i compare myself to everyone else who didn't fuck up and i feel like a giant loser!
spider_orchid 15th-Jan-2013 10:06 pm (UTC)
Good for you. College doesn't go in straight line for everyone. I actually did pretty good in college, but I got kicked out of my major because I made an F then a D in the same class. Its all about never giving up and WANTING it enough to get your shit together. You're awesome. Remember that.
runaround_kid 15th-Jan-2013 11:26 pm (UTC)
i fucked up too and am applying to go back at 24 (i'll be almost 25 by the time i start school -- if i even get in). i basically have to start from scratch on my BA, meanwhile everyone else my age is getting their masters or has a real person job. it feels like shit sometimes and i'm hard on myself about it, but what's done is done. you can't change the past. i have to keep reminding myself to let go of it and focus on what my goals are now.

sounds like you have dealt with your situation amazingly and are doing awesome. be proud of your accomplishments, finishing school when you have a kid is insanely difficult so you must be a serious badass (my mom got pregnant with my older sister when she was in university too and dropped out for a bit but went back and finished her degree). who gives a fuck if your path isn't exactly the same as everyone else's? you'll have more interesting stories to tell someday as an old lady :)
amandaplan 15th-Jan-2013 08:45 pm (UTC)
i haven't started this semester but im thinking about transferring. idk if i should tho.
jennyfinnly 15th-Jan-2013 08:45 pm (UTC)
i just started my sophomore year, and i'm one of those old people in class. 28 looking like a 19 year old with a terrible case of dark circles under my eyes.
xguernica 15th-Jan-2013 08:56 pm (UTC)
i feel ya!! i've been doing part time at community college for years and i just turned 25 lol. I am transferring to get my bachelors degree in Sep and everyones asking me if i'm going to live in a dorm.. wut?
jennyfinnly 15th-Jan-2013 09:02 pm (UTC)
exactly! it's better now that i'm older tho. i was a know it all and lazy from 18-24.

now i'm so focused it's ridiculous, i'm majoring in zoology and i love it!
misscrystal25 15th-Jan-2013 09:32 pm (UTC)
I was living in a dorm for two years at university at the age of 24/25. Luckily I look younger than I am so that helped greatly. No one really suspected I was older.
spider_orchid 15th-Jan-2013 10:09 pm (UTC)
I used to feel like that because I'm 30, but then this 38 year old and a 46 year old showed up and took a lot of the pressure off.
awkwardmumbles 15th-Jan-2013 08:47 pm (UTC)
also apparently J Cole the rapper went to my first college St Johns
dantheorangeman 15th-Jan-2013 08:49 pm (UTC)
I always see the hot sprouse twin and dakota fanning around campus. thank god i never see the ugly one.
noreallywtf 15th-Jan-2013 08:49 pm (UTC)
i wish i was still in the college bubble not worrying about shit except going to class
deltabean 15th-Jan-2013 08:50 pm (UTC)
Those were the days
hypnology 15th-Jan-2013 08:52 pm (UTC)
College is so much more appealing than job searching. But once I get a job I'll probably be singing a different tune
_marquis 15th-Jan-2013 08:58 pm (UTC)
i'm in college and i wish the only thing i had to worry about was going to class.

it must be sf nice to just go to college and not have to work. will forever hate people who get to go to college and not work.
fancycarousel 15th-Jan-2013 09:04 pm (UTC)
im currently one of those people who go to college and not work.

i hope i get a job this summer tho. idk
endingonfire 15th-Jan-2013 09:26 pm (UTC)
Same. I'm doing a double major, working 25 hours a week in retail and trying to volunteer to get experience for my resume. It doesn't sound too bad, but for me, it's a lot.
loverelapse 15th-Jan-2013 10:10 pm (UTC)
lol same. my financal aid is drastically less since i'm taking more classes and i've been trying to find a job on campus since fall semester because i don't have a car and i had an inteview lined up, but mental health took a dive and now it's like i'm gonna be surviving off bulk oatmeal for a while and ugh/rant
theblackwidow 16th-Jan-2013 01:39 am (UTC)
MTE I actually cried from watching a Skrillex video last night of college kids having fun
sastra_fuss 15th-Jan-2013 08:52 pm (UTC)
I wonder how some people are making it. My facebook feed is full of people going to grad school, law school, living in nyc or la and i'm just like, did y'all hit the lottery and not tell anyone? Most of us went to the same university for undergrad and that set me waaaaay back.
goldengal1193 15th-Jan-2013 08:55 pm (UTC)
HAHA ikr? Sometimes I wonder how people I know have so much money. It's like they're pulling it out of their asses.
shania_cares 15th-Jan-2013 09:18 pm (UTC)
If their parents could pay for their undergrad degree it's not hard to live a good life with a decent job. My friends are living big, and a lot of it has to do with the fact they don't have to scrape together money to pay off their student debts.

Me and some other people I know aren't so lucky, and we've had to move back home, etc. to pay off our loans. Oh well, at least I'm in grad school now.
iciegurl89 15th-Jan-2013 09:20 pm (UTC)
It's the complete opposite here.

I only know 2 people who are going to grad school and I was friends mostly with the top 10% of our class. Most of them I graduated with that had high honors went to become RNs and are married =/

One is in law school and one is in pharmacy school. The one that is in law school is the only person out of 400 in our graduating class that's doing it.
snow_cherries 16th-Jan-2013 12:22 am (UTC)
I KNOW. I feel like I'm the only one going crazy trying to work, study, and not sell my organs. People I went to high school with are finishing up their master's, but I'll only get my BA in a year and a half because I had to save up before enrolling. No idea how they do it.
xguernica 15th-Jan-2013 08:52 pm (UTC)
jealous of all these comments in here about how much fun college was and not being ready for the real world. I've been in the real world AND college for the past 5 years lol
goldengal1193 15th-Jan-2013 08:56 pm (UTC)
ikr?
_marquis 15th-Jan-2013 09:09 pm (UTC)
lol seriously.

again. i will never not hate people who don't/didn't have to work through college. they are sf lucky. i also feel like they are ahead of the game because they could do internships and shit i can't afford and have time to do because i have to work 40 hrs a week, and do full time credits at school.
xguernica 15th-Jan-2013 09:33 pm (UTC)
ikr! next semester i am working only 28 hrs but am taking 5 classes, and a 180 hour internship. blah!
theblackwidow 16th-Jan-2013 01:45 am (UTC)
I also wish I had more time to volunteer/do internships (UNPAID) when I was in college but I had to work like 30 hours a week.
emologues 15th-Jan-2013 08:53 pm (UTC)
lmfao chet haze is a joke at NU.

he blocked me on twitter when he was going on this bizarre pseudo religious rant and then me and my friend encountered him at burger king once and he was insanely high sitting alone eating a whopper mumbling to himself.
demikkusuu 15th-Jan-2013 09:16 pm (UTC)
dude no way thanks for the deets
my bff is at northwestern and i just returned from a week-long stay w her (we breached the topic of famous people and she talked about chet haze. she was much more generous)
lovefifteen 15th-Jan-2013 11:51 pm (UTC)
lolol he was in my year and everyone agrees he's a tool

u heard about the reddit ~~~scandal~~~ right?? LOL embarrassing
daydream11 15th-Jan-2013 08:55 pm (UTC)
After his Tumblr stint, Cole Sprouse will never fail to make me literally LOL. What an idiot.
goldengal1193 15th-Jan-2013 08:58 pm (UTC)
You mean the instagram thing? I love that.
daydream11 15th-Jan-2013 09:03 pm (UTC)
I mean his Tumblr account and his yuppie "I took one anthropology course and now I'm an expert on social justice issues" white boy-ness. He and one of my friends got into it about white privilege and whiteness and racial experiences. He's an asshat of the first order. After he realized everybody on Tumblr was making fun of him, he deleted his account and said it was all for his sociology class project. It was hilarious.
nene718 16th-Jan-2013 01:53 am (UTC)
i think dylan is the one with the instagram. cole is the douchey one.
mingemonster 15th-Jan-2013 08:57 pm (UTC)
Starting university this autumn, hopefully. If I don't, I'm fucked because my SweSAT score is the only thing that's going to get me in, and it expires next spring D:
waterlanding 15th-Jan-2013 08:57 pm (UTC)
To add to all those gymnasts, HBIC Nastia just started at NYU this week.

Edited at 2013-01-15 08:57 pm (UTC)
goldengal1193 15th-Jan-2013 09:00 pm (UTC)
awesome
dawn9476 15th-Jan-2013 08:57 pm (UTC)
If we are going to talk about kids of the famous going to college, Rob Lowe's son goes to Duke. Maria and Arnold's oldest graduated from USC last year. Their 2nd oldest goes to Georgetown.
interrobamf 15th-Jan-2013 08:57 pm (UTC)
It must be so strange to be a friend to the daughter of the most powerful man in China. Assuming she has friends.
demikkusuu 15th-Jan-2013 09:19 pm (UTC)
since im a creep i like to google everyone i meet (at first it was for aimless fun and then i realized literally everyone had articles about themselves) so when you get to someone who has 0 results you know theyre living under a pseudonym (at this point i assume they are Children of Rich Wealthy Politicians or Tycoons)
nene718 16th-Jan-2013 01:54 am (UTC)
i should start doing that, though i feel like the wealthy politicians' kids have revealed themselves. the ones in my class at least.
tea_blossom 15th-Jan-2013 09:56 pm (UTC)
I assume her friends are also the children of Chinese politicians.
holdheart 15th-Jan-2013 08:59 pm (UTC)
Honestly, I hated my undergrad school but I miss going to classes. I can't wait to start grad school later this year.

My GRE score was fucking awful though.
chuk_is_dazzled 15th-Jan-2013 09:43 pm (UTC)
i hate my uni rn i want to get the fuck out of here omg, i so so so hope i can graduate may 2014. i realized im too attached to my parents or my house idk which cause i cant deal with being 2+ hrs away, i need to go to a grad school in a 1hr radius of my hometown and there are like 6. im not looking forward to taking the GRE :/ i think im going to buy and go to (if they have it) every GRE study help session thing there is starting summer.
holdheart 15th-Jan-2013 09:58 pm (UTC)
My best advice for the GRE is to start preparing at least a few months before your test date, and to study a little bit every day/week . Even if you don't go to any of the study sessions, there are a few study prep books that really help. It's not so much what you know (though you should definitely review vocab and basic math), but learning how to take the GRE and what tricks they use to confuse you. I didn't give myself enough time to prepare so I didn't do as well as I hoped.

There are people who can take it blind and do well, but I'm not one of them!
loverelapse 15th-Jan-2013 10:13 pm (UTC)
the reasons i chose my current school were FOR THE WRONG REASONS and i haven't adjusted well and i'm literally in the middle of nowhere with rednecks and i am a woc so i'm half expecting to get murdered in the woods :( i'm holding out for a study abroad and out of state internship.
