I did a presentation today and I was really nervous about it but the teacher really liked it and praised me, told me I did a very interesting presentation and that I presented it in a confident way. I better soak that in because whenever I do presentations I end up feeling all embarassed about the little words that I may have stumbled over or whatever for the rest of the day.

Amy is always so spot-on with her pieces of advice!

In my speech class, the prof. showed us some videos of famous speakers. He pointed out, "Did you catch where they messed up? How did they handle it?" Even the most experienced speakers can stumble over words or make other mistakes.

Great advice.

I used to have so much inner negative talk. I started pointing out to myself my good qualities. My life is not yet where I would like it to be, but when I have negative talk about that, I can think about what I'm doing to slowly but surely get where I want to be.

the hilarity in that is that no one is ever where they want to be, but if you look back and see your path, you are 99% of the time headed in the right direction. as long as you are working to move forward, you should not be so hard on yourself. if there was one thing i could explain to my 16 year old self, it would be that. i spent so much of my teenage years and 20s beating myself up because i wasn't 'there yet'.

I agree. My problem was that I didn't work to move forward for many years. I was afraid I wouldn't succeed as an adult student, so for ten years I didn't pursue a degree that would allow me to advance. There are other areas of my life that I let grind to a standstill.
