“This award is for every woman who felt like there wasn’t a space for her,” Dunham said, visibly shaking as she accepted the award. “This show has made a space for me.” Dunham later won Best TV Comedy or Musical for “Girls.
It doesn't need to be a competition. If she felt that way, that was her reality. It's kind of amazing that she's a 26(?) year old female show runner on HBO. I can't think of a man who has held that title.
Who said anything about competition? People always defend her show's complete lack of fully-realized non-stereotypical representation of any woman who isn't white by saying she never intended it to be an all-encompassing, generation-defining show for every woman. Well here she is dedicating her award to "every woman who felt like there wasn't a space for her" even though her own show has provided zero space for women who aren't just like her.
Hannah is such a terrible friend. I love Ray/Shoshanna. Alison Williams is so beautiful. Uhh...what else...I liked this ep. I didn't even miss Jessa. I forgot she existed.
Ok first off I'd like to express how much I hate it when shows unravel all the plot lines established in the prior right off the bat. Anyways, I like that they addressed how skinny the boring chick is getting, I was upset with how little they showed of the newlyweds. And I think Lena is a little dumb with how she corrected the lack of diversity in the show by making it her personal mission to start hooking up with a black guy. Let the interracial love flow, but it's like she's trying to scream LOOK HOW NOT RACIST I AM. Hope episode 2 is better because this was weak.
Compared to the other actresses' work, I really don't think Lena Dunham deserved the Golden Glove for acting. She isn't a bad actress (Allison Williams's crying scene, anyone?), but yeah.
I read an interview which mentioned that Andrew Rannells appears in only the first four episodes of this season. And someone on a previous page or two said that he stated that he won't return for season 3. I hope this doesn't mean Adam moves in. Ugh.
I have to say, I'm not really interested in Hannah's storyline so far. The other characters are much more fascinating to me.
also wtf @ everyone not wanting adam. adam driver is the best actor on this show!! y'all need to get on that Heisenberg shit cuz the meth you're smoking now is really fucking with ya
I love this fucking show Idc. although I can so see this season being hannah trying to be "independent" by fucking a bunch of guys only to realise she actually does want Adam and he suddenly won't be available because he's over her bullshit. I think Hannah is THE most selfish character on TV but weirdly I relate to her...but then I'm self involved too, ngl :P
Also, Adam Driver is the best actor on this show, Idc that ppl find him repulsive.
wait. i just found it. that was pointless. waste of the whole 3 minutes it took to fast forward slowly one and a quarter times and write these comments. i'm going to work now.
HmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmT.
