CW Boss on Supernatural's Fate, The Vampire Diaries Spinoff, and the Battle Royale Project

CW fans, you've got questions. We've got answers.

These answers come straight from the mouth of CW President Mark Pedowtiz, who took the stage Sunday morning at the TCA Winter Press Tour to field questions about Supernatural's chances of another season, The Vampire Diaries spinoff that will feature The Originals, and the status of other projects in the works at the network, including the Wonder Woman pilot and Battle Royale. Here is what he had to say

On Supernatural getting a ninth season: "Nothing's been announced yet. No determination's been made," Pedowitz said. But he insisted "there's a good shot" it will get another season and that it's in a good place, creatively.

On The Vampire Diaries spinoff: "We're basically going to go and focus on the original family," he told reporters about the project in development, which will be set in New Orleans. It will revolve around Klaus (Joseph Morgan) who Pedowitz said is "such a great character," and "hopefully some of his siblings will come along," Speaking of, Phoebe Tonkin is confirmed to be coming onboard the spinoff, which means she will not play Wonder Woman in the CW's Amazon pilot.

On 90210's fate: The CW boss said no decision has been made yet, but he truly believes in giving viewers a concrete ending. So maybe a 13 episode final season is on the way, à la One Tree Hill?

On Emily Owens' cancellation: Pedowtiz confirmed that all 13 episodes they shot will air. "We're very proud of the show," he said. "For whatever reason, it was just not connecting."

On Nikita's future: Pedowtiz wouldn't say anything concrete about the fate of the series, but he did say he was pleased with how it was performing in the new timeslot. "It's performing on-par to our expectations. I'm a fan of the show. I like the show."

On The Carrie Diaries' expectations: The CW prez has high hopes for the Sex and the City prequel, stating that he hopes it will air as long as Gossip Girl did. When a reporter asked why young Carrie Bradshaw looked nothing like a young Sarah Jessica Parker and wasn't more "normal looking," Pedowitz simply said: "We cast the best actor."

On Beauty and the Beast: We're very pleased in terms of where it's going creatively," Pedowitz said. "I believe the show has more growth in it, centered around that love story." He compared the ratings to The Secret Circle, which we think was supposed to be a good comparison, but we all saw how that turned out

On new CW projects: Amazon, the Wonder Woman pilot, doesn't have script yet, but they are casting for Diana right now. The Battle Royale series that was rumored to be in development is officially dead, with Pedowitz insisting it was never more than an idea from a phone call. Finally, the CW will be doing an animated web series starring Justin Hartley and Misha Collins.

Supernatural is GREAT this season. I'm crossing my fingers that it doesn't go downhill after this hiatus.

Really good, actually.

I you don't care about Sam's character, it's pretty good. If you like Sam's character it will be tough to watch because they're destroying him. If you hate Sam it will be tough to watch also because you'll just angrier with him.

Dean's stuff is good though.

they've been destroying his character since season 5...

I really like Sam and I really, really like what they are doing with him this season. Sure him and Amelia are a little forced, but hopefully it will go somewhere. Also, who hates Sam?

I never liked Sam out of the two of them--I've always been a Dean girl--but I felt since about season 5/6 things were way OOC for Sam and it made me dislike him more. And now that I've read the comments there is a chick in Sam's life?

I miss the show where it was just two brothers driving wherever the job took them sans girls. That's why I liked the show so much. I miss seasons 1/2, they will forever be my favorite

good, I've really enjoyed it. Enjoyed it more than these last few seasons. It's much more reminiscent of the earlier seasons imo, but is really like a blend of early seasons and late seasons. It's kinda weird in a way that it feels like it's what the middle seasons should've been and middle seasons are what the last seasons should've been. imo.

terrible because Castiel is still there. Or I assume anyway.

Season 8 has been really damn wonderful. They're screwing Sam over, as usual, but I'm so used to that at this point that as long as it's not stuff that tops the whole demon blood drinking fiasco I can deal.
