Bradley Cooper Reveals His Date to the Oscars: His Mom!

No arguments here: Bradley Cooper couldn't be more excited about debuting a new lovely lady on his arm at this year's Oscars. The Silver Linings Playbook actor, 38, told E! News that his plus-one to the Academy Awards is already spoken for -- by none other than mother Gloria."Oh yeah, that was done," he told the site. "One night, when I started the profession, [my mom said], 'If you ever [get nominated], I am the date.'"

"She was freaking out," he added of her reaction to the happy news. Cooper received a coveted nod for Best Actor during Thursday morning's Oscar nominations announcement for his turn as former teacher Pat in Silver Linings Playbook.The David O. Russell-directed film is also up for seven other awards, including Best Director, Best Actress (for Jennifer Lawrence), Best Supporting Actor (for Robert DeNiro), Best Supporting Actress (for Jacki Weaver) and Best Picture.

I loved it too. I was pleasantly surprised how much time they gave to discussing his mental issues and her mental issues, it was kind of awesome to see two characters talking about it so openly.

I agree, made me feel way less self conscious than I usually do about my "issues". It kind of says "hey look those people you'd dismiss as crazy are kind of normal barring some select occasions!" which I like.

That movie made me laugh, cry, etc. I was so pleasently surprised. And, Bradley was great in that role too, Mark Wahlberg would have bombed as Pat.

See I just finished watching it and I thought it was just... fine. The pacing was so off and the story uneven. Bradley was the best part of it and carried the film and deserves the accolades. I don't get the fuss over Jennifer's performance though. She was really just sort of... there, for me.

I just finished it. I liked it more than the book, and I thought Bradley Cooper was amazing. More so than Jennifer Lawrence. Having seen Amour, I think Emmanuelle Riva though was SOOOOO much better than Jennifer. I need to see the rest to really judge, though.

Jacki Weaver was a bit lacking for a nom, though.

i also watched it yesterday night and omg it was so beautiful! jlaw was really great in her role and i finally understand why people think she's a great actress.i'll rewatch it today after watching les mis!

Saw it yesterday and while I thought it's very good, I read the plot of the original book and think it's even better. The movie glossed over a lot of things including the mental illness.
