If you were a young girl during the 80s or 90s, you most likely read The Baby-Sitters Club. (I know I did.) You had a favorite sitter, a favorite client, and you probably even had a favorite Super Special. This book series was a big part of many little girls’ literary lives, so let’s take a look at some things you may not know about the BSC.
1. The popular series was created to capitalize on the popularity of another book about babysitting. The book was Ginny’s Babysitting Job, which was published in the early 80s. An editor at Scholastic saw the success of another novel about the hobby and decided that the publishing company needed their own version.

the only thing i remember is that she had saltwater taffy and so i really wanted to taste salt water taffy too lol. the internet didn't exist so i didn't even know what it looked like lol.

and then that dumb ho drove her bike straight into a pothlole and broke her leg or something. my sister and i still quote it.

I love everything Zilpha Keatley Snyder. I was wickedly obsessed with her books as a sixth grader.
Loving this post, it's taking me straight back to elementary school.
I never finished the series though, I stopped on book 11 :/
and I heard handler left like 90% of the 'mysteries' unresolved, like about VFD and the fires and shit
I loved when I'd notice literary references as I got older tho
