The ever-Fandom-friendly Clark Gregg tweeted this last night, just so we could all have a good exclamation of surprise about it. It seems the rumors of S.H.I.E.L.D. starting to shoot in January were true, and if so we might see it as early as this fall.

You know, sometimes I still can't believe the guy from New Adventures of Old Christine is so famous now. I'm glad he is, though! Love Clark and Coulson.

Excited for this show!

Also, I ship Clint/Coulson. (And Clint/Natasha. Tony/Pepper OTP, though)

That's the general assumption but I don't think it's been confirmed yet.

There's been no confirmation either way, but it's equally likely that it's set after The Avengers. No one stays dead in comics and they explicitly mentioned Life Model Decoys in Avengers.

The simpler conclusion is that Coulson's death was faked by Fury to get the Avengers to team up.

I am hoping they do before during and after the Avengers (So dealing with the Tony Stark blowout of "I am Iron Man", the hulk ripping up Harlem, the town in Thor and rebuilding, etc

I sincerely hope so. His death in the movie was such a major plot turning point, it seems really cheap to undo it for a TV show.

Most likely gonna focus on SHIELD and what it does, introducing new characters or bringing characters in the comics to life... while being just on the outside of the marvel cinematic universe but enough that it counts. Basically Cop Show but fits into the MCU

Whedon said that he wants this SHIELD show to be far away from the actual Avengers because otherwise the credibility is shattered.

Most likely mentioned in passing, either through conversation with other people OR through video camera communications. Same thing with Colbie's Maria and Jackson's Fury, we'll hear of them but the likelihood of actually seeing them is minimal.

I don't think so. SLJ is the only one who showed interest so we may see him or hear his voice.

I don't think they can get anyone from avengers with their schedules and wages
