I can see why people are upset about this. It's taking a horrible aspect of history, society and culture and reducing it to a marketing tool. I can see why people would be offended that a horrible time of history is being used for profit (above and beyond the movie itself).

However, by that logic, the same critique should be applied to all his movies that have toy lines. Using the same logic, the IB dolls are trivializing the Holocaust, the PF dolls are making light of organized crime and so on.

Then that can open up a whole other can of worms on what should and shouldn't be made into dolls/toys. Should wrestlers have their own dolls? They beat each other up for a living, is giving a kid a wrestler doll sending a good message? Are we sitting on a slippery slope with that kind of thinking? IDK, IDK.
