It's a shame because I don't think the underlying ideas behind Twilight were all that awful in the beginning. Lots of teenage girls who are beginning to form strong ideals still don't feel like they're special or worth anything. On a basic level, I don't think there's anything wrong with finding a sense of strength and self-affirmation after a boyfriend shows you how deeply you're worthy of being loved for who you are. I mean, I'm somewhat strong. I'm opinionated. But would i love to have a boyfriend who made me feel like I was first choice for anything at all? Absolutely. It doesn't have to be all or nothing. The problem with Twilight is that Bella never did anything else. The desire to be loved and to find validation from the people that you also admire isn't wrong in itself.
