i think that may be it. your average person thinks sci-fi is cgi and aliens and space and weird shit and purple explosions and time travel but for me it's more about the essence of the fiction, the reality of the science and the simplicity of their unity. but don't get me wrong. i love 'starship troopers' and 'star trek' and big in-your-face entertainment as much as the next person but i think it's kind of sad that the over-the-top stuff gets far too much credit for the genre. when it comes to sci-fi i think i'm hard to please, i think we could just leave it at that. :p
I like that Niccol does sci-fi but it's still about people not just CGI
