only 2 things i care about with this are 1. i recognized shiprock right away in the first still and 2. it's directed by andrew niccol. i've got to be like one of 20 people that actually like his films... /csb

I like his films too, even In Time which everyone hated :/

we have it on dvd. idk what's wrong with part of me. mostly the part that actually likes justin timberlake (idk... he's got charisma, you gotta give him that) and the part that likes niccol's brand of sci-fi. maybe it's because no one's bothering with the genre or at least not approaching it with the eye for elegance he does? idk. something's wrong with me, doc...

Yeah I didn't think Timberlake was that bad, even less for people that don't know him as a singer (ei my mom lol)

I like that Niccol does sci-fi but it's still about people not just CGI

i think that may be it. your average person thinks sci-fi is cgi and aliens and space and weird shit and purple explosions and time travel but for me it's more about the essence of the fiction, the reality of the science and the simplicity of their unity. but don't get me wrong. i love 'starship troopers' and 'star trek' and big in-your-face entertainment as much as the next person but i think it's kind of sad that the over-the-top stuff gets far too much credit for the genre. when it comes to sci-fi i think i'm hard to please, i think we could just leave it at that. :p

The Departure is my jam. I imagine that I'm going to pop it on as an asteroid hurls itself at the Earth and listen to it as I die and it'll make everything beautiful.
