Lucas Till, Jeremy Irvine and Alex Pettyfer to test for the male lead role in Divergent

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Summit is getting closer to finding its male lead for "Divergent" opposite Shailene Woodley, considered one of the more sought-after roles for a young actor.

Sources tell Variety that Lucas Till, Jeremy Irvine and Alex Pettyfer will test for the role later this week. Summit previously tested Till, Brenton Thwaites, Luke Bracey and Jack Reynor in November.

Veronica Roth's young-adult novel, acquired by Summit in March 2011, is the first of a planned trilogy. The story has a "Hunger Games"-like teen-on-teen violence in a futuristic setting and follows 16-year-old Beatrice Prior, who Woodley is set to play.

Tris is srsly The. Worst. That being said, I really like Shailene (I hadn't heard she'd be cast actually, but I think it's great news!) so I'm hoping that she will make Tris slightly more likable.

Also, I'm not here for the author's religious bullshit. She makes an entire...what are they called? sects, clans, ...w/e not important. ANYWAYS. She makes one that is all about being brave, and is srsly like the most embarrassing book version of #YOLO ever and she wants me to believe that this tatted pierced up rebel children don't fuck their brains out on the regular?

lolno
shining_starsxx 8th-Jan-2013 08:57 pm (UTC)
The jumping off trains part made me lol because it's just ridic.
buriedgold 9th-Jan-2013 06:28 am (UTC)
taissa would be perfect.
theratwhispers 8th-Jan-2013 08:58 pm (UTC)
Also, with the world building, why the shit would you put like minded people together? Putting a bunch of rebel people together like that makes no sense either. Way to make assembling rebellion super easy.
squirrels_oh_no 8th-Jan-2013 09:04 pm (UTC)
I've always said that it's like a passive aggressive sorting hat where you could just pick whatever house you wanted.

It makes no fucking sense, and yes, it is based on religion.
lillylilacs 8th-Jan-2013 08:53 pm (UTC)
The one of the left looks like a smug fetus.
shining_starsxx 8th-Jan-2013 08:54 pm (UTC)
Isn't Four biracial? (What the fuck kinda nickname is Four?)
rainbow_fish 8th-Jan-2013 08:56 pm (UTC)
(lol he only has four fears, duh~~~~~)
bodylikemind 8th-Jan-2013 08:56 pm (UTC)
yeah he is but the author basically described him as looking white (which she later said she regrets doing), and his nickname comes from him having 4 fears in the book.
wickedwatch 8th-Jan-2013 09:25 pm (UTC)
Ya, Author confirmed his mother was a POC.
hazel_belle 8th-Jan-2013 08:55 pm (UTC)
If I had to choose, I'd go with Lucas Till. Just because I liked him as Havoc in XMFC, and I hope he returns to the mess of a sequel.
christinalina 8th-Jan-2013 08:55 pm (UTC)
Hope Jeremy gets it. I am confused as to why Pettyfer is even testing for it considering he turned down The Mortal Instruments (a role he was handed) because he didn't want to do those teen franchise films anymore. Can't say I blame him but this contradicts that sentiment.
bodylikemind 8th-Jan-2013 08:57 pm (UTC)
i take it his career didn't take off the way he wanted it to
donquixote17 8th-Jan-2013 08:58 pm (UTC)
Well he did ask for 10 million for the mortal instruments and was turned down. He just doesn't want to miss out on the franchise gravy train.
bodylikemind 8th-Jan-2013 08:59 pm (UTC)
...did he really ask for that much?
amkf 8th-Jan-2013 09:01 pm (UTC)
Is he/his agent completely insane? They're not even offering that kind of deal to superhero leads. Garfield got $500,000 + a %of profits.
christinalina 8th-Jan-2013 09:05 pm (UTC)
Ew.

i'm willing to accept the one on the far left.
brucelynn 8th-Jan-2013 08:55 pm (UTC)
But tell me if it's him
vehiclesshockme 8th-Jan-2013 09:09 pm (UTC)
lol right? That post was amazing.
brucelynn 8th-Jan-2013 09:11 pm (UTC)
Lol I can't look at him without thinking about it
mondayrf 8th-Jan-2013 08:55 pm (UTC)
I'd feel really bad if my career peaked with the video to You Belong With Me tbh.
winonaforever 8th-Jan-2013 08:55 pm (UTC)
They're STILL trying to make Alex Pettyfer happen? How cute.

la_petite_singe 8th-Jan-2013 08:56 pm (UTC)
Wow, they're all...kind of interchangeable, aren't they.
amkf 8th-Jan-2013 08:59 pm (UTC)
LOL I basically just made the same comment.
la_petite_singe 8th-Jan-2013 09:01 pm (UTC)
I guess I like Lucas a teeny bit because of XMFC, but seriously. I'm not familiar with this book, but these are some bland motherfuckers.
rainbow_fish 8th-Jan-2013 08:58 pm (UTC)
Also the knowledge seekers are the "evil" sect or w/e!

Smells like GOP propoganda to me, tbh!
amkf 8th-Jan-2013 08:58 pm (UTC)
I've never read these books and don't really care about this news except to comment that all three of those guys are basically built in the same mold. Jack Reynor too, though at least he has some indie cred.
age_of_green 8th-Jan-2013 08:59 pm (UTC)
Is the "cookie cutter white teens surviving after the apocalypse" trend over yet?
squirrels_oh_no 8th-Jan-2013 09:05 pm (UTC)
It's dying fast, but they're changing a lot of what once might have been called "dystopians" into "sci fi thrillers".
theratwhispers 8th-Jan-2013 09:06 pm (UTC)
And by sci-fi thrillers, they mean romance with vague sci-fi themes.
tryxkittie 8th-Jan-2013 11:34 pm (UTC)
I feel like nothing at all since divergent has taken off in any discernible way. YA is so boring now and days.
fight4thislove 8th-Jan-2013 09:02 pm (UTC)
Lucas Till please. He can actually act
